Chapter 10

Noah

Liv laughs as she smacks my arm. Here we are again. We’ve done this again, and I really need to stop trying to convince myself it’s not exactly what I wanted.

As I hold her in my arms, I realize there’s something else behind the passion that’s been there from the start. I feel comfortable with Liv.

Everything about her puts me at ease. Well, okay, not everything. Some of what she does drives me right to the edge, but it’s one I’m happy to visit.

“You’re terrible.”

Shaking her head at me, Liv steps back and goes for the door.

I grin. “Absolutely.”

She’s not wrong, after all. I just had sex with her again, and we’d both agreed it was a bad idea. Yet, here we are.

“Well, I should probably be going now. Sometimes Dad waits up for me, and I’d hate for him to…”

Liv’s words fade as she considers reality, and I nod.

“Get the wrong idea? Or should I say the right idea, in this case?”

Her cheeks go pink, and I’m quickly learning it’s the wrong kind of trigger for me. All I can think of is reddening that fair skin even further.

I walk to the door and unlock it, holding it wide for her.

“Go on, then. I’ll see you in the morning?”

Liv raises her brows at me. “Probably not bright and early, considering it’s a Saturday, but yes.”

“Oh, I’m giving you mornings off now, am I?” I feign anger.

“Yes. You think it’s good for morale and feel terrible you’re the reason I’m getting home so late.”

She winks at me as she turns for the door, and I grab her arm, pulling her in for another kiss.

“Drive home safely, and try to avoid your father if you can.”

It’s odd talking about John like this, and I feel a twinge of guilt as I consider what we’re doing behind his back.

But there’s also a thrill to doing something so risky, which is highly out of character for me.

“I will.”

Liv presses another kiss to my lips, and I’m not sure where we stand now. I have to imagine she feels the same.

And yet, I still want more. I want this with Liv as often as she’ll allow it.

“See you tomorrow, Liv.”

Her stare holds mine. “See you tomorrow, Noah.”

Saturday morning comes much earlier than expected, thanks to the wake-up from Elijah.

My son throws open my door and jumps onto the bed, shaking me awake.
