The position boxes her in just enough and her breath hitches as it did in my office. That sound. I can’t get enough of it.

“Oh, can you now.” Olivia meets my stare. “And here I thought all you knew about was fancy buildings and meetings.”

The look Olivia gives me is a dare, egging me on even though she has to know the consequences. Arousal pools in my gut, my erection straining behind my pants.

“You don’t know when to quit, do you?”

I’m closer now, a breath away from crashing my lips into hers.

“Nope. Never have.”

Olivia steps forward off the wall, looking up into my eyes as she smirks.

“So, now that you can see that I’m right, maybe you can be there for Elijah’s bedtime routine. He’d be so happy, and I’d be able to get back to that list of yours a little quicker?”

I can barely suppress the growl rumbling in my throat as Olivia threatens my control. She knows I have to work tonight, and she’s deliberately pushing her luck.

And damn it all, she’s going to win this one.

“Bedtime. All right. And then I’m back in my office. I have—” I rake my gaze across her body “—work to do.”

Olivia moves closer to me than she’s ever been.

“Thanks, boss.”

She winks and slides past me, leaving me standing in the hallway, hot and oh so fucking bothered.

Chapter 5

Olivia

What the fuck is wrong with me? Why did I do that?

But it’s no use denying the truth. I know exactly why I did it. It’s way too much fun to push Noah’s buttons.

The thrill of it, and the fact that I know it’s going nowhere. Noah’s just humoring me by playing along.

I go back into Elijah’s room and let him know it’s time to get ready for bed.

“Aw, man. Really?”

He frowns, his grumbling continuing as he switches off the game and stands up. We were having a lot of fun, so I completely understand him dragging his feet.

Noah’s voice sounds behind me, and it’s calm and collected. “Yes, buddy. It’s time. Brush your teeth and get into pajamas.”

See. It’s all just a silly flirtation.

“Are you coming, too, Dad?”

Elijah’s eyes light up, and he runs up to Noah. There’s a small hesitation from Noah. He knows he has work to do.

But that steely composure breaks fast, and he smiles down at his son.

“Yes, I’m coming, too. PJs?” He nods toward Elijah’s closet, and the kid ducks inside, coming out with a pair of Spider-Man pajamas that look well-loved.

“Good ol’ Spidey. Go get changed and brush your teeth, okay? I’ll turn everything off in here.” Noah smiles at Elijah, a glimmer of joy that’s long overdue. “Do you want to read a book with me before hitting the sack? It’s been a while, but I know you like it.”

“Oh, man, yes! Can Olivia help, too? She can do some of the voices with you.”
