“Then you’re going to have to find out what time I get off. Drink your coffee and be on your way, brown eyes.”

Challenge fucking accepted. I was raised in the heart of a crime family, groomed to be a consigliere: there weren’t many things I couldn’t do, let alone land a woman. My dick was twitching thinking about all the pleasure I could give Salva and my mind was eager to learn more about her. She was a foxy body surrounded by a thick cloud of mystery. For now. I was going to take a lot of pleasure in undressing her, layer by layer, in every sense possible.

So I skipped Criminal Law 101. Actually, I skipped all my classes for the day and waited for her at my table long after the sun went down. I had two other cups of coffee, three teas, and a dreadfully dry scone, but there was no way I’d let Salva walk away from me. I was flipping through today’s New York Times that someone left on another table when she came and dropped the check in front of me.

“We’re closing.”

Good. I looked at the clock on the wall behind her.

“Ten o’clock. Now that I know what time you get off work let me take you out.”

For a second, I thought she might slap me, but in the end, she cracked a smile. Yeah, I was pretty fucking determined when I wanted something, and I wanted her. I craved her. She flipped a fucking switch in me, and I was a goner now.

“I don’t even know your name, brown eyes.”

“Roman. Roman Stefani. Come on, I’ll keep you safe. There’s a French restaurant close to here. Let’s have dinner.” She moved from one leg to another, trying to decide what to do about me. Too bad I was used to being in control of my own fate. “If you turn me down, I’ll just come back tomorrow, amore.”

“Fine. But I’m not going to a French restaurant after wearing the same clothes all day. We’re gonna get cheap Chinese at Wang Fu and if I decide I don’t like you, you have to swear you won’t bother me again.”

So much sass. So much sexiness.

“As you wish.”

I got dressed and waited for her to punch out, but the moment we walked out in the street I added something extra to our deal. I pulled her in and kissed her. Hard and deep, feeling her tongue with mine. She didn’t push me away but when we parted, she looked at me like I was crazy.

“Better to know now if you like me or not, Salva. I wouldn’t wanna waste your night.”

“Fuck you, brown eyes.” But she pulled me down for another effervescent kiss.

I knew it.
