As he thrust into me hard, a heavy moan escaped from my lips. I bit down on his shoulder, falling into the rhythmic thrusts moving my body.

“Fuck, you look so sexy in that dress…" he moaned.

Another hard thrust set a tingling sensation to my toes. He stayed there, right at the spot, slowly pulling out.

My pussy walls tightened as they waited on the brink of release.

“You feel so fucking good,” he said as he pulled out before thrusting in harder.

That was all I needed. The final movement that sent me spiraling. I came undone against him, my thighs shaking.

“You’re mine, and only mine,” he whispered, kissing my forehead. “And, I cannot wait to get you out of that dress.”

This was what I lived for…but as he pulled me inside the house, a sinking feeling hit my gut. I didn’t want to marry him, not under duress. I wouldn’t make the same mistakes my mother did. I refused to be in a marriage of convenience—convenience ruined love.

Chapter 46

Kai

“So, is she going to marry you?” Logan spat as I grabbed a glass of water. He leaned against the doorframe of the kitchen. His arms were crossed, and he had this hesitant glint in his eyes that screamed uncertainty about where we stood.

I let him simmer, enjoying the cool water rushing down my throat.

Logan stood there, staring at me. A rhythmic thump sound from upstairs, catching both our attention.

“Liam brought someone home last night?” I asked.

“Yeah, his hookup count keeps getting higher and higher,” Logan joked.

I licked my lips, placed the cup on the counter, and exhaled a deep sigh. “She isn’t going to marry me. Not under the circumstances…"

Logan opened his mouth, no doubt for a quip or an insult to Audry’s intelligence. But he quickly closed it.

“I know, a bit stupid.” I shrugged, filling the blank for him. “But, I get it.”

Logan nodded slowly. “So, what’s the plan then?”

“The plan?” I pursed my lips, smacking them apart. “The plan is to survive.”

He scoffed. “If that was the plan, we’d be down at the courthouse.”

I narrowed my gaze, and Logan squirmed beneath it. He wasn’t one for apologies, but one was written all over his face.

“She is staying at the hotel as much as she can. Samuel can’t touch her there.”

“Do you think he knows?” he asked.

I shrugged again, leaning back against the counter. The rhythmic thumping had slowed, the echo of feminine moans barely audible through the thick structure of the house.

“With him questioning her at the banquet, who knows what he knows. He obviously has a description?—”

“Which proves my point about the cops,” he added in.

“Which can lead to some support for it, sure.” I sat on the counter.

Footsteps in pairs came down the stairs. The front door opened and shut before Liam appeared in the kitchen doorframe. He forced Logan aside as he walked in, his sweats low on his hips and his tattooed chest on full display.

“Another visitor?” I asked.
