He was going to be here any minute. He was?—
Oh God.
There was someone at the door.
Not someone.
Him.
It had to be him.
Her breath caught in her throat, and suddenly, it didn’t matter how she was sitting or where her hands were because she could barely breathe, much less think or worry about how she looked.
The door opened, and her heart skipped a beat as a very tall, broad-shouldered man walked in.
Just like her, he was wearing a mask that obscured most of his face. For a moment, she thought it obscured his whole face before she realized he had a full beard. The black color of his hair blended in with the black mask he was wearing, which had thrown her off. He was wearing a suit that fit him so well, he looked like he’d just walked out of a movie—or someone’s fantasy.
His lips curved in a smile as soon as he saw her.
“Hello, Sunshine.” His voice was low, gravelly. Maybe a little familiar? Or maybe she was fooling herself. Sure, she’d met a lot of people coming through the diner and even recognized that one woman on the website, but that didn’t mean she’d ever run into him before. Why would a man like him be eating at the diner?
“Hello, Master D.” Her voice came out even higher and squeakier than it had for Tim, making her sound nothing like herself.
His smile flickered, then widened. Did he not like her voice? Shoot, maybe she shouldn’t talk too much. Or maybe she wasn’t supposed to call him Master D? No, that was what he’d said to call him.
Maybe she was just a huge bundle of nerves who was going to second-guess everything about everything.
That seemed the most likely.
Master D prowled—yes, prowled; she couldn’t come up with a better description of the way he moved—toward the bed, and Emily’s breath hitched in her throat.
Oh God.
Her insides clenched… in a good way.
As he moved, he raked his gaze over her body. She couldn’t picture what she looked like to him. She could barely feel her arms and legs, much less try to control how they were positioned, but the way he looked at her made her feel sexy. He looked like he wanted to eat her up… in a hot way.
“I’ve never done this before,” he admitted, his voice even lower than when he’d introduced himself as he approached. His dark eyes blazed behind the mask, focused on her with an intensity that made her heart race faster and her nipples pucker. “But, if you have no objection, I think the best thing is to just jump right in.”
“No objection,” Emily replied, still squeaking. She couldn’t seem to stop it.
He smiled again, reaching to cup her face in his hands.
“If you need me to slow down, say ‘yellow.’ If you need me to stop, say ‘red,’” he murmured right before his lips touched hers.
Her lips parted under his, opening in shock as the electricity between them sizzled.
Safe words. He gave me safe words.
Thank goodness for the reading she’d done, so she understood what he was saying. She didn’t have to think about it… and the fact that he’d given her safe words made her feel even better about the whole situation. No, this wasn’t the way she’d pictured losing her virginity, but considering the stories she’d heard about how some girls’ first times went, she was starting to think she might be getting a better deal than most.

Sunshine was everything he hoped she’d be and more. She looked incredibly similar to Emily, even from what he could see of her face, but her lips were poutier, and her voice was completely different. Higher. In fact, he almost didn’t want her talking, which was why he’d kissed her. It took away some of the fantasy playing out in his head.
Yes, he’d stopped being as drawn to Emily once he’d known about Sunshine, but now that he was here, it was more like the two were merging in his head—the fantasy he’d had for so long merging with the woman he wanted to use to replace that fantasy.
She’d been so pretty and unintentionally sexy sitting on the bed when he came in. He’d been able to see how nervous she was—and he hoped his own nerves didn’t show. It had been a damn long time since he had sex and even longer since he’d had sex with a virgin.
