“I deserved it.”

“No.” I hate that look on her face right now. Cupping her cheek, I bend down so she can look me right in the eye. “I appreciate your apology, but…I get it. Yeah, you lied to me, and that sucked… but I understand why you did. And I could have handled it better.” I lick my lips, my gut twisting as I finally admit one of my biggest regrets. “I should have called like I said I would. None of this would have happened if I’d just fuckin’ called you.”

Her eyes continue to glisten despite my efforts to avoid any tears. The way her lips curl up at the corners tells me I’m forgiven, but then she blinks and sniffs like another thought has just occurred to her. “Since we’re apologizing, I…I’m sorry you got ejected from that game.”

“Fuck,” I mutter, shaking my head. “You weren’t there to see that shit, were you?”

“No, I just heard about it. Felt kind of bad because it’s my fault you were in such a foul mood.”

“My mood is not your responsibility.” I pull her against me, cupping the back of her head as I kiss her gorgeous curls.

Letting her go just as fast, I hurry us to the secret glade.

There’s a small stream that runs near it, so you can hear the water bubbling. The birds flit among the trees, and the way the light falls through the branches gives this place a magical vibe. I swear, if fairies existed, they’d be born here.

And I will never admit to anyone that I think that.

Plunking onto the ground, I nestle my back against the tree trunk before pulling her down to straddle me.

Her smile still has a watery quality to it, like she’s on the verge of tears.

“Please don’t cry,” I whisper, smoothing the hair back off her face.

“I’ll try not to.” She sniffs. “But if I do, they’re happy tears. I’ve missed you so much, and I’ve been trying so hard to resign myself to the fact that we’re over.”

“We’re not over.” I shake my head, my insides tensing as I know what I want to say… but it’ll take me down a path I’ve never gone before.

Fuck it. I’m doing it anyway.

“You’re my woman. I don’t want anyone else. Just you.”

“Just me?” Her lips look like they’re fighting a smile, but her eyes are filling with tears.

Happy tears, remember?

I swallow, holding her face and trying to be gentle when what I really want to do is growl the words and claim her right here. Show her how much I mean this shit.

“Just you.” Pulling her close, I kiss her again, slow and tender, taking my sweet time to explore her mouth before peeling back the layers that are keeping us apart. I wasn’t actually planning on doing this out here, but it’s naturally happening, like our bodies need to experience everything our hearts are saying.

She’s soon topless, her head lifted to the sky as I kiss my way from her neck to her luscious tits. They’re big and beautiful, her nipples like beer-scented grapes—my favorite drink and my favorite fruit all rolled into one.

My fingers crawl their way beneath her skirt, finding her ready and waiting for me.

I start to play while she fumbles with my zipper, yanking my pants open and greeting Mr. Jones with a smile.

“I’ve missed you.” She bends down and kisses his tip, sending him to heaven with a sucking action that makes me see stars.

I fist her hair and groan, nearly spurting right into her mouth, but I don’t want to come that way. I need her to see. To know.

“Stop,” I whisper.

She pulls back, her pink lips wet and glistening.

“C’mere.” I guide her back up my body, pulling her to settle over me.

Grabbing my pulsing dick, I part her folds and line us up. Then she sinks onto me with this slow, languid move that’s pure pleasure.

My hands round her ass, and I pull her all the way down, stopping her from riding me.
