Watching her makes my body edgy as hell. She’s not the only one that’s starved. But for a whole different thing.

“The city’s getting pretty stirred up. We’re hoping to get out of here soon. As soon as you eat, you should dress.”

We share the rest of the food in silence for a while.

Simona smiles fondly. “I remember the first time I had empanadas. God, they were so good, I ate until I could barely move.”

“Was that where you grew up?”

“No, I spent my early life in Czech. The land of soups and stews.”

“And your more recent life?”

“All over.”

“I heard you worked in intelligence.”

She visibly shuts down. “So to speak. How about you, where did you live?”

I chew the bite of empanada I just shoved in my mouth as I hold up a finger while I swallow. “Navy brat. I’ve lived everywhere.”

That seems to ease her a bit. “Guess we have that in common.”

“Do you ever go home?”

She glances down, picks up the last little pieces of empanada off of the paper plate. “I haven’t in a long time. I didn’t think it was safe.”

That makes my skin bristle. “Has this man, Pavel, been hunting you?”

“No. He hasn’t been on my radar in years. Until today—”

Andre knocks on the door. “We’ve got to roll. Now.”

Simona kicks her feet to the side of the bed. I swipe up the food wrappers. “Let’s get you dressed. We’ll be right out, man.”

When he’s out of ear shot, I say, “He’s protective of you.”

“All the Agile guys act like brothers.”

“That’s a good thing.”

She grumbles, “Sometimes.”

The button-up shirt easily goes over her shoulder. She watches my fingers work as I fasten it up over her bare breasts. “Sorry, no bras. Luckily, I found a shirt with buttons.”

I have to count to a thousand while I shimmy a pair of tights up her long, sexy legs.

She seems almost shy, so I keep my comments to myself.

“We can apply more of the medication in the plane once we take off.”

Her cheeks turn pink. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?”

It’s my turn to grin. “I seem to remember someone mentioning the mile high club.”

She swats me. “Go. Get out of here.”
