Page 34 of Mentoring Maye

“Just a fracture. Nothing that a little time won’t heal,” I said dismissively. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Andrew wince at my remark.

Shepperd wasn’t nearly as subtle, though. She shook her head in obvious disappointment.

“What?” I asked in a mixture of frustration and a whine. It had been the longest day, and I just wanted someone to cut me some slack.

“Only you, Maye Louise.”

I cringed at the use of my old-fashioned middle name and rewarded her with an eye roll. “You had to use that name, didn’t you?”

Her spreading grin matched mine. “You deserve it when you act so dumb.”

“Pardon?” I asked incredulously. “Dumb?”

“Yes. Dumb as dirt. Who the hell breaks their arm and says words like just and little?”

“I just don’t like when people make a fuss over me. You know that.” I probably said that more for Andrew’s benefit than my sibling’s. The girl knew me better than anyone and didn’t need my reminding her of my character.

But then she turned on a dime as though it had just struck her who the man in the room with us was.

She looked at him from head to toe. “You’re the teacher?”

He didn’t back down an inch, even with her acidic tone. I had no idea what caused the sudden mood switch, but instinctually, I wanted to interfere.

So I answered before Andrew could. “Yes, this is Professor Chaplin. He’s mentoring me through the summer internship. He was there yesterday when I fell and stopped by to see how I was doing.” I rushed the whole explanation out in one breath and begged her with every twin wavelength we shared to just leave it at that.

“Interesting,” she said with a tone so loaded with innuendo, you’d have to be dense to miss it.

“Indeed it is,” Andrew answered, and I caught the mischievous grin he tried to conceal with a forced cough.

“Well, I really just needed to grab my computer. I have to do some extra credit for chemistry, or I’m not going to pass.”

“Oh noooo,” I commiserated. “Do you need some help?”

“Weren’t you going to get some rest?” Andrew interjected, and Shepperd and I both shot him stay-out-of-it glares.

“Okay. That was wild.” With a little head shake and a chuckle, he explained, “When you both gave me the exact same evil eye at the same exact time. Not going to lie, that was trippy.”

Shepperd looked at me and mouthed trippy?, and I burst out laughing. Poor Andrew missed the interaction, so he was left out of our laughing fit.

“Nice to meet you,” she called over her shoulder, and praise to my twin, closed the door to our shared room on her way out.

Andrew stalked back to the bed and loomed over me while he asked, “What’s so funny, Ms. Farsey?”

Instantly my throat went bone-dry, and I tried to swallow the ball of lust his tone created. Reaching out with my uninjured arm, I grabbed the man by the front of his dress shirt and pulled him to my mouth.

I’d show him just how not nice I could be.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

ANDREW

And that’s how I ended up lying on top of Maye in her childhood bedroom. Under the same roof with her parents and siblings. It would’ve taken an earthquake equal to The Big One or some other catastrophic event to have made me stop, too.

I was careful not to jostle her casted injury as I settled my weight between her bare legs. So many times, I’d fantasized about those long, toned legs around my hips or waist while I slammed into her. My God, the real thing was unbelievably better than I’d imagined.

“Fuck me, baby. You are so sweet, so perfect,” I praised between devouring her. I made a path of intentionally wet kisses across her jaw to behind her ear and then continued down her long, graceful swan’s neck. She was so fucking beautiful, it caused a pain deep in my soul. My cock was thick and insistent, and I gave a cautious rock against her warm center.

Maye moaned in pleasure, so I repeated the motion while watching her expression. She had her head tipped back in the downy pile of pillows, her blond hair fighting to free itself from the braid she had confined it to. The mass of thick, golden strands looked like silk spread across the ultra-white bedding, and all I could think of were cherubs with sweet apple cheeks and pouty bow-shaped mouths.
