“Tell me,” I said, wondering what evil plan was brewing in his mind.

Just as he was about to talk, his father came to stand by his side. Not minding his presence, Luke focused his whole attention on me.

“Marry me,” said Luke.

“What?” I gasped.

“Marry me,” he repeated. “Join your assets with mine and get the shareholders to sell their stocks to me and my dad. When we hold the majority shares, we can move forward and swallow Amhurst Co.”

His words sent an icy chill through me. It was one thing to be competitive and quite another to actively plot sabotage.

“You can throw the Amhurst brothers out of the company and bring them to their knees,” Luke continued. “Hell, you can even take ownership of their mansion and kick them to the curb.”

A long time ago, this was exactly what I’d wanted. Snatching everything from Noah, Corey and Caleb had been the central point of all my revenge plans.

So much had changed since then.

Noah, Corey, and Caleb gave me the power to reign over Amhurst Co. willingly. They’d even decided to move out of Brian’s home and leave it all to me.

I hadn’t fully allowed myself to trust them until now but they left no room for any doubt. They gave me the key to destroying them willingly.

“Are you listening to my son?” Bill asked in a tight voice.

I glanced at the shorter man. “I’m listening.”

“Then, what do you say?” Bill asked, his dark eyes gleaming with excitement. “Are you willing to join hands with us?”

“No.”

“Milla,” Luke urged. “What’s the problem? Isn’t this what you wanted?”

“I will never betray Brian,” I said in a cold, clear voice. “Amhurst Co. is his baby. He sacrificed a lot to bring it to where it stands today. I’m not going to be the person to bring it all down.”

Bill scoffed. “She’s full of shitty sentiments. You said she was ambitious. I can’t believe I wasted my time coming here today. As usual, you’ve proven how useless you are!”

“Iamambitious,” I spoke up. “But being ambitious doesn’t mean I’ll break business ethics for personal gain.”

“Marry me, Milla,” Luke hissed, his voice full of venom now. Stepping close, he grabbed my arm and pulled me against him. “I won’t let those assholes lay a claim on you once again.”

Without warning, he crashed his mouth against mine.

I tried pushing him off but his arms were like powerful bands of steel that caged me against his chest. His hungry mouth clamped over my lips, urging me to open up to him.

Rage coursed through me as I helplessly flailed against him.

Luke forced his tongue into my mouth, deepening the kiss.

With a sudden force, I felt someone wrenching me away from Luke. My feet stumbled but a solid wall of muscles waited behind me to break my fall.

Strong arms steadied me from behind.

On the other side, Caleb had Luke by his collar.

“How dare you touch her?” Caleb barked and threw a fist in Luke’s face.

“Shit,” I muttered, moving forward but a hand grabbed my wrist, pulling me back. Turning around, I came face-to-face with Corey. The grim, warning look in his eyes stopped me from saying anything.

“How dare you hurt my son?” Bill snarled, stomping forward to push Caleb off Luke. “Do you have any idea what I could do to you?”
