“What are you guys talking about?” I asked, speeding through the light traffic. “Why won’t I be staying at my place for long?”

“We’ve decided to move out,” said Caleb. “Noah’s already looking for a place for us. We want you to stay with your father in his home. It’s the least we can do after...” He let out a heavy sigh. “After everything.”

A frown twisted my lips.

How could they make such decisions on their own? Brian knew nothing yet. He’d surely protest if they suddenly decided to leave. That house belonged to them too.

“Whoa...why are we stopping here?” Corey asked, squinting out of the window.

The car stood in the parking lot of a supermarket. Turning around in my seat, I said, “I need to buy carrots and garlic,” I said. “And you guys are getting me some good wine and chocolates.”

Corey glanced at Caleb who shrugged a shoulder and proceeded to climb out of the car.

“If you wanted wine and chocolates, we know a better place,” said Caleb.

“Zip!” I said, swiping a finger over my lips.

An amused chuckle escaped them as they followed me inside the supermarket.

The place wasn’t crowded but as soon as we entered, all eyes fell on us. It wasn’t every day people saw a group of multi-millionaire corporate bosses gliding down the cereal aisle.

It was a moment before I realized that my companions weren’t the only ones to attract all the attention. Several young women looked covertly at me, silently eyeing every piece of accessory on me.

Maybe it was Corey and Caleb’s presence beside me that reminded me of the drab wallflower I used to be in college. Azalea Amhurst was a complete polar opposite of Camilla Brown.

My calf-length black dress molded to my body, accentuating my rounded curves and slim waist. Gold jewelry on my wrists and ears added sparkle to the otherwise dull, demure outfit. And to complete it all, my feet were encased in a luxurious pair of black Louboutins.

Azalea Amhurst was a picture of confidence and grace.

“Are you making us dinner?” Corey asked, drawing my attention back to him.

“Yep. We’re eating dinner with Brian but I’ll make us some sandwiches when we get home.”

“Nice,” he said with a grin. Circling his arm around my waist, he drew me closer and kissed my cheek. “The only thing you ever made us was those chocolate-chip cookies. I hope your cooking is as good as your baking.”

Surprised, I glanced at him. “You still remember?”

“Obviously. No one’s ever made us cookies or brought us apples and milk. You were the sweetest chic we met back then.” His grin suddenly fell away and he stepped away from me.

“What’s wrong?”

He shook his head. “Thinking about the past makes me want to kill myself.”

He met my gaze with a somber look.

“I’m giving you guys one last chance,” I said in a grim tone. “Fuck it up and Iwillkill you.” My voice was deathly serious.

He gave a nod. “I know.”

“Oi! I found those pudding cups you liked so much in Jersey.” Caleb’s loud voice coming from a far corner broke the sudden tension between us.

Caleb hurried over to us, showing Corey a couple of brightly colored cups.

I took the opportunity to escape them and clear my head.

While I sympathized with them and was starting to let them back into my life, I was still wary.

The Amhurst brothers hid their monstrous side beneath a façade of masculine beauty and power. I’d let their pretty masks lull me into trusting them once.
