I was in the middle of replying to an email when my desk phone rang up. Picking up the call, I distractedly answered it. “Laurie?”

“Mayor Tyrell is here to see you.”

I stiffened at the unexpected news. “What’s he doing here?”

“He’s come to meet you,” said my assistant in a nervous whisper. “I took him and his secretary to the conference hall and told Sadie to look after them.”

My mind churned, wondering why Mayor Tyrell would personally come to meet me. He’d even refused to answer my phone calls over the past couple of months. What could he want that was so urgent he’d have to step in here himself?

Closing my laptop, I got to my feet and buttoned up my jacket.

Milla needed to be at the meeting too. Since her office was on the way to the conference room, I decided to give her the news in person.

Walking out of my office, I strode down the spacious hallway. A few whispers and murmurs about the mayor being here reached my ears.

The mayor never visited our headquarters before. The only time I met the man was the day we signed contracts with the city council. What’s he doing here unannounced?I questioned myself again.

My gaze fell on a familiar figure in the distance. A single look was enough to tell me it was Milla.

She was walking toward me but seemed absent-minded as she remained oblivious to my presence. When she got closer, I noticed her creased dress and messy hair that she’d desperately tried to comb with her fingers.

She looks like sex, I thought, remembering the way she looked on the morning at the motel.

Milla didn’t even see me, nearly turning around the bend to walk inside her office complex.

“Ms. Amhurst,” I called out.

She looked up at once.

A pleasantly surprised look came over her. Giving me a smile, she walked toward me. “Hey, what’s up?”

A different but familiar scent reached my nose.

“You were with Corey and Caleb?” I asked, forgetting the urgency of the moment.

Her cheeks glowed pink. “Kind of...yeah...” She couldn’t even look at me straight as she blushed hard.

Moving closer to her, I whispered, “Right here in your office, Miss Amhurst?”

She stared into my eyes, her cheeks heating up with a delicious color.

“Fuck,” I breathed, feeling my cock stir up.

Milla’s entire face went red.

Fuck, I can’t have her looking this enticing in front of the mayor, I decided, hating the man more than ever.

“You need to come with me,” I said.

A stricken look came over her. “Now?” she asked with a dismayed look on her face. “I have so much work to do. Corey and Caleb took up so much time and my PA wasn’t around to hear anything. Mallory’s back now, so I don’t think we can get away with—”

I raised my hand to stop her.

“Mayor Tyrell is here,” I said, stopping her from giving me excuses why we couldn’t get naked and have sex in her office.
