It’s like fate wanted us to have her all to ourselves.

I knocked on Milla’s door but there was no answer.

My smile turned into a frown at once. Was she still sleeping?

Turning the knob, I opened the door and walked into the room.

My gaze fell on the empty bed. The covers and sheets were spread neatly. I checked the bathroom next and made sure she was truly gone.

Walking back into the room, I glanced at every corner, noticing a folded note with a big ‘MOM’ written on it. I picked it up and unfolded the note.

Hey Mom,

I have morning classes, so I’m heading out early. Will be working from late afternoon to evening, so will be crashing at my apartment tonight.

Don’t worry about anything and spend as much time with Brian as you can. Call me anytime you like.

Love you so much xoxo

Milla.

My fingers crushed the paper. Irritation seeped through me as I realized Milla simply ran away.At least, she had the brains not to say anything to her mom, I realized.

Taking a deep breath, I smoothed out the paper and left it on the bedside table. I felt angry with Milla for leaving without a word but also a little worried.

Was she okay?

“Hey,” a familiar voice sounded beside me. I didn’t have to turn around to know it was Corey.

“Where’s our girl?” he asked, looking around the room.

“She’s gone.”

“Gone?”

I gestured toward the note on the table.

Corey grabbed it at once and read through the short note.

“Wow,” he breathed. “She ran as soon as she woke up?” Chuckles escaped him. “We scared her, huh? I didn’t think it’d be this easy. Noah said she’s a sly one.”

“Noah’s been watching her for years but he doesn’t know shit about her,” I said, remembering my shock after finding out she’d been a virgin all along.

Corey’s expression turned grim. “You’re worried about being rough on her?” he asked, guessing my feelings accurately. “I didn’t think she’d be a virgin either. She’s fucking twenty-two, man. And dirt-poor. With a sweet, innocent face like hers, I assumed she’d have a sugar daddy or two.”

“You made that assumption only after you knew about her mother getting married to our asshole dad,” I said.

Corey shrugged a shoulder. “Eva’s a gold-digging bitch. Why should her daughter be any different?”

“Either way, she’s family now,” I said with a sneer. “Our sister.”

Corey chuckled but a dark look descended into his green eyes. “Call her what you want, I’m still going to fuck her. You got lucky last time. I’m taking her first next time.”

“We don’t even know where she is right now,” I said.

“She’s attending classes,” he said, flapping the note in my face. “Let’s go and find her. Besides, she’ll be in the same classrooms as Noah. It’s not even a challenge to find her in Silverlake’s campus.”

I ran fingers through my dark strands. “Let’s go, then.”
