“Shonda!”
My secretary barged into my office. “Yes, sir. I’m here.”
I picked up my go-bag after shutting my desktop down. “I’m headed out for the weekend. I’ll be in the Maldives, so if you need me, email me. My cell service is always spotty out there.”
She nodded. “Of course, sir. I hope you enjoy yourself.”
I walked toward her as she stood in the doorway of my office. “Stay on top of the research team. Forward any and all correspondence regarding the Rochere-Beauregard case to me immediately.”
She furiously took notes. “Of course, sir. Anything else?”
“Walk with me,” I said as I slid past her.
She fell in line beside me. “Would you like me to—”
I held my finger in the air. “Triple-check with all of the investors. I want to make sure they’re at the upcoming board meeting next week. Do we have all of the folders and pamphlets ready?”
“Our accountant turned everything into me today. I’ll be going through it during the weekend to make sure everything lines up.”
I pressed my finger into the elevator call button. “Wonderful. I’d like pictures of the contents sent to my email so I can look over them myself as well. Also, check in on Lila. Make sure she’s doing okay. And send a gift basket to Lila’s mother. I’m sure all of this has her on edge.”
“Yes, sir. Right away.”
I drew in a deep breath as the private elevator carried me all the way down into the parking garage. I had a car waiting there specifically for me so that I could high-tail it to the airport. I was already running behind, and I certainly couldn’t expect Eden to show up on time if I didn’t do that myself.
And the further away I got from my office, the more I focused on the weekend ahead of me.
“Afternoon, sir!” the driver said as he got out of the car. “Just the tarmac this evening?”
I nodded as I stepped off the elevator. “Yes. No pit stops. Just get me there as quickly as possible.”
He opened the back door for me. “Right away, sir. I’ll make sure you get there on time.”
Bora Bora was calling my name and I couldn’t wait to drop my things in that little cabana hut that sat over the crystal clear waters of the only place I ever found peace. It was one of my first purchases after pulling in my first ten million, and my favorite part of the entire place was that there was no one in sight for miles. The Maldives were a nasty tourist attraction at times. I never went in the summers for that particular reason. But, once school was in session and all the bikini-clad stay-at-home-mothers went home to deal with their pathetic lives that they absolutely hated, that was my signal to travel and enjoy the peace and solitude that came with the endless expanse of ocean that surrounded the cabana on all sides.
And as we pulled out of the parking garage, heading straight for the airport, excitement rushed straight to my dick.
I couldn’t wait to tie Eden up in my basement again.
I watched the clock like a hawk as the time ticked closer to six o’clock. If my fucking driver didn’t step on it, we’d be late, and I’d be in default of my own god damn contract. I gritted my teeth as we soared down the highway. I counted the seconds in my head as we pulled up to the chain-link fence that housed my private jet. And just as the clock struck six, I stepped out of the car.
Only to find Eden already standing there with her bag in her hand.
“I see I’m not the only one who enjoys cutting it close,” she said flatly.
I stepped out of the car and walked toward her, not bothering to close the door in the process. I snapped my fingers and men came out in droves to collect our things and rush them onto the jet. I gazed into her eyes, enjoying the heated anger that bubbled behind them. She hated me now, but she’d be begging for more by the time I was done with her.
And as I gripped her chin, her nostrils flared.
“Good girl for being on time. Keep it up, and I might just reward you for it.”
She yanked away from my grip. “I would rather die.”
I shrugged. “Suit yourself. But our plane is ready, and we have a schedule to stick to.”
