“The kind where you cut my sister and employee some slack.”

I bent down so that we were face to face, her blue eyes locking with mine as I breathed her in.

“That could be negotiable, but it depends…” I said, breathing in more of her vanilla scent as she continues to watch me close.

“On?”

“On whether or not you are willing to give up your principles and dignity.”

She snapped, “Absolutely not.”

I shrugged before backing away from her and returning to my chair.

“I want to cut a real deal, a professional one, Mr. Drake.” She stated and I laughed.

“Lawyers are good at that. Especially ones with a record like yours. Not sure why you choose pro-bono, but not everyone can have brains and common sense.”

She narrowed her eyes, “So what? Are you stalking me now?”

I whipped around in my chair and watched her flinch. “I specialize in knowing people, Miss Rochere. Especially my enemies.”

“You also specialize in taking demons and making them angels in the eyes of the media.”

I ignored her quip. “For instance, I know you graduated from Harvard Law after obtaining a full ride that has an acceptance rate of less than one percent.”

“And what else do you know about me?”

I tilted my head. “I know that when you were nineteen, you took the fall for your sister when she was caught stealing gum out of a gas station. It’s the only blemish on your record, as far as I could tell. Not even a parking ticket, but you were quick to step in front of your baby sister whenever she was in trouble. It’s how I knew you’d show up today.”

As she stood there, my eyes couldn’t help but wander. She was a luscious little thing, with thick thighs that begged to be wrapped around my waist and a luxurious head of hair that cried out for my hand to be buried within it. In any other world, I would have already had her naked and painted my bedroom with her scent. Over and over, until she cried out for mercy and knew nothing but the sound of my name falling from her plump red lips.

But given the current circumstances, getting side-tracked was out of the question.

“I spoke with the male in question from Saturday evening, and he’s adamant that absolutely nothing happened,” Eden said.

“I’m sure he would be when going up against someone like myself.”

“Everyone has rights to due process, Mr. Drake.”

I shrugged. “In your world, yes. But due process has no place in the media syndicate.”

It was rare that I found someone willing to stand up to the likes of me. I had created a fierce and fiery reputation around my brand. One that very few people attempted to buck against. However, the second she leveled her eyes with mine, I knew I had a formidable opponent. Someone with guts. Someone with glamour. Someone with intelligence.

And as she approached me, closing the distance between our bodies, the sloped sway of her hips threatened to catch my attention.

Then, she hiked up a hip and perched it against the side of my desk. “What will it take to call off the assault on my sister and her catering business?”

I chuckled. “What happened to due process? Are you so willing to give up what you believe?”

“If you’ve done your research right, you already know the answer to that question with regard to my sister. So, what will it take?”

I took a step toward her, allowing her perfume to assault my nostrils. “It’s dangerous, putting the ball in my court.”

“Is this you dancing around the topic? Or do you really not have any use for me?”

Oh, I could have use for her. I had toys scattered all around the world that would look like perfection buried between her juicy lower lips. My smile settled into a smirk as I reached my hand toward her face. A small chunk of hair had fallen into her eyes, and as she backed away, my entire body was at the ready. My other hand jutted from out of nowhere, coming around to cup the back of her head. Stopping her in her tracks. Widening her eyes as she gazed up at me.

And as I tucked that strand of loose hair behind her ear, the beast inside of me peeked its head out.
