Dominik shook his head. “I honestly don’t think so. Not yet, at least.”

“Jackson?” I asked as I turned around.

“What’s up?”

I nodded toward Mom and Dad. “Get my parents set up in a hotel somewhere. Then, keep Em in your sight at all times. We need to stay in contact, and we need to get this ball rolling.”

“On it,” he said as he threaded his fingers within Em’s.

“What about you?” Mom asked as she scooted into Dad’s embrace. “Where will you go?”

“With me,” Dominik said as he came up to my side.

I slowly looked up at him. “What?”

He didn’t bother looking down at me. “She’ll come stay with me until further notice. That way, she and I can tag-team all of the information my teams come up with so that we can drop these pieces into place that much quicker.”

“Fair enough,” Em said as she came over and hugged me.

I wrapped my arms around her tightly before I kissed her cheek. “You do exactly what that man says and not a single thing more, understood?”

She smiled at me with tears in her eyes. “Only if you promise to do the same.”

“I’ll do my best.”

She kissed my cheek. “Me, too.”

Jackson held out his arm, taking my sister from me. “Mr. Rochere? Mrs. Rochere? If you’ll follow me.”

Dominik quickly divvied out cell phones and electronics before everyone exited his office, but all I did was stand there. I needed a moment to breathe. I needed a moment to not be the strong one all of the damn time. My knees wobbled as I reached out for the chair beside me. The chair that sat in front of Dominik’s desk. I leaned against it, propping myself up for a few seconds as I blinked back furious, heated tears that threatened to ruin my makeup.

And as Dominik wrapped around to the front of my body, he stared down at me with an inquisitive look.

“You okay?”

I swallowed down the bile I refused to throw up. “I’ve been better.”

“I want to let you know that I’ll be canceling some of my… booked vacations.”

My eyes snapped up to his. “You will?”

He nodded. “Just wanted to let you know that you’ll be getting an alternative itinerary. One that keeps us in-state for now.”

I blinked. “Wait, what?”

He grinned. “We still have a contract to fulfill, you and I.”

I didn’t know whether to be relieved or to slap him. “After everything that’s just happened, you still want to keep this up?”

The second his gaze darkened, I watched his pupils blow wide open. The predatory stare in his eyes rooted me to my spot, and the butterflies that took flight in my stomach made my knees weak. My legs buckled beneath me. His arm, strong and steadfast, wrapped itself around my lower back as he hoisted me against his body. I felt his thickness rising. I felt the heat of his body entrapping me, teasing me, as if it wanted nothing more than for me to melt into his body. And as his tongue darted out to lick his lips, my gaze dropped to the movement.

Before I wondered what his tongue might feel like between my legs.

“I crave nothing more than that,” he said as his voice dropped an octave.

I forced myself to keep my cool, even though I wanted to thrust my mouth against his. “Fine by me, then.”

He tilted his head slightly. “Well, well, well. The furious young woman has finally come around.”
