"I find you impressive."

Elias didn't need the man to utter the end of that statement to know exactly what he meant.

For an omega.

Elias stacked papers and tucked them in his travel case, all the while wishing he was genuinely offended. Instead, a ray of pride burned happily beneath his ribs. It drove him nuts that he couldn't stop the reaction no matter how much he tried.

With a composed demeanor, he turned to the woman standing beside the desk and handed her the case. She'd been his assistant for the event. "You were very helpful today. Head on back to the office. I'll be along shortly."

She nodded, rolling out their samples and equipment on the borrowed cart. The alpha stood there the entire time, watching, waiting. Elias didn't know what for. When there was nothing else to use as a distraction, he forced himself to turn back toward the man. His proximity was unnerving, standing just inches away, gaze resolute.

"Anything else?" Elias asked, raising a brow.

"No. Well, not about the presentation. You did an excellent job and I will recommend the drug to my board of directors for treatment. That's not why I stayed, though."

"Thank you for the compliments, however, if you're about to proposition me—"

Strong arms wrapped around his lower back, harmless, but heart-quickening.Elias couldn't deny the jolt of hunger that surged through him as the man stepped closer, their chests colliding. He had to crane his neck to look him in the eye. They were heavy-lidded with lust. A soft purr rumbled from the back of his throat.

Touch me…

Fill me…

Breed me…

He leaned into the alpha for ten seconds, taking deep breaths while nuzzling his throat. The fragrance was so captivating it made Elias feel dizzy. His weakened resolve trembled under its weight. The man didn't stop talking. Oblivious.

"Do alphas come up to you often at events like these?"

Elias gasped in a breath, pushing him away. "More than you'd think."

"Once or twice per presentation? And you never give in?"

Elias quickly averted his gaze, his hands twitching as he instinctively hid them in his pockets, desperately trying to gather his scattered thoughts. "No, I don't. Alphas like to possess things, but I'm not an object. I'm a person."

"Yeah, I know," he replied, sliding his hands into his pockets to match Elias' energy, no doubt. "But you also have needs. I can smell your preheat, and maybe taking the edge off would help. I'm more than willing to satisfy you with no expectations or hidden agendas. What do you say?"

In an effort to resist, Elias tightened his thighs together. The alpha intruded on his personal space once more, but refrained from touching him without consent. His purring grew louder and more animated, evolving into boisterous chuffs of exhilaration, prompting him to swiftly place a hand over his mouth to quiet himself.

"The primal part of you is on board," the alpha said, laughing. "Can we convince your mind?"

Elias's ears burned. "No. You won't like the requirements."

"Lay them on me."

Elias moved quickly past the alpha, seeking a moment to ponder, and approached the elevator, pressing the call button. They waited in silence as he fidgeted back and forth, buzzing like a bee. It was super embarrassing, but describing the origin of his scars felt even worse. He couldn't do it.

"I won't undress all the way, or at all, really. Just enough for you to slip it in. I'm not showing you my skin."

The alpha growled but said nothing until they were standing in the parking garage. Elias hesitated to show him where his car was, so he stopped and turned, crossing his arms. This was a terrible idea, but slick leaked from his ass to the point of soaking his thighs and the whining omega in the back of his head left his judgement skewed. Maybe a brief flash of pleasure would be enough to satiate the beast.

Wishful thinking.

"And I'm not into kissing," Elias blurted, face flushed.

The alpha's brows rose, but he didn't make fun of him like Elias thought he would. "If that's what you demand, that's what I'll give you."

Elias ran shaking, sweaty fingers through his hair, tugging on it. "I can't believe this is happening. Are you serious?"
