Queeny gives me a cute giggle before planting a wet one on my mouth. “I’ll warm the bed for you.” She sends me a feline smile, turns, and sashays out of the room.

Just like that, my dick stiffens again. I shake my head. This woman is going to be the death of me.

After cleaning myself up and draining the tub, I find my girl sound asleep in bed. Throwing my jeans back on, sans dirty boxers, I tiptoe out of her room. When I get to the kitchen, I survey the damage.

“My God, Queeny. What happened today?” I mutter, hating that she was so torn up inside. By the looks of it, Mae will need another twelve-serving plate setting, along with tall tumblers and a set of wine glasses.

As I clean up the shards of glass and broken ceramic pieces, I realize just how much she’s been dealing with—silently, stoically, and all alone. My throat prickles, and my nose stings. Her hurt manifests and grows inside of me. I hate that she has so much weighing her down.

Making my way to the trash under the sink, I note that she didn’t eat dinner. My frown deepens. Skipping meals isn’t going to help, baby.

When the floor is free from debris, I wipe down the counters and backsplash, which has dried sauce stuck on it. As much as she doesn’t want to admit it, she needs someone constant in her life. Someone she can come home to, count on. I know she has Jay, but they have their own life to live.

The more time I spend with her and Isabel, the more I know I belong with them. My life feels so complete when we’re together. It’s as if we’ve always been this way, and it seems strange—not to mention depressing—imagining a future without them in it. I know Isabel won’t always need a nanny, but she’ll need me. There is no written rule that I can’t find another job teaching. Kiara might be pissed, but she’ll be upset either way.

Creeping back up the steps, I check on Isabel again. She’s sound asleep, sucking her thumb. I leave her door open a crack and go to the place I never want to leave—Mae’s bed.

She’s just as knocked out as her daughter, and I steal a moment of admiration. Her face is clean and serene, making her look more peaceful than I’ve ever seen her.

Her arm stretches to the other side of the bed. “Rem…” she mumbles, still asleep.

My breath stops, and my heart swells. She’s looking for me.

Stepping out of my jeans, I lay them on the chair in the corner and climb into bed. I take her hand and wrap it around my side as I gather her close.

“I’m right here,” I murmur against her ear.

“... love …”

Did she just…

My eyes squeeze shut, wishing to all that is divine that it’s true. Even if it’s only a dream, she’s dreaming about loving me.

I pull her tighter against my naked form, savoring the way her silky skin warms mine. It’s a bare whisper, but I can’t hold back the words. “I love you too.”

Chapter 22

You're All I Want

Remi

“Oh God, yesss.”

Soft… Warm…

Delicious weight rests on my pelvis, and I reach for the supple skin that I know and love. “Mmm, Mae.”

Her hips circle languidly, and it’s the best kind of torture.

“Just like that.”

A giggle drifts around me, and it’s enough to tempt me into consciousness. I love that giggle.

When I open my eyes, I’m mesmerized, watching the woman of my dreams rock against me, taking her pleasure and amplifying my own.

“Mornin’, baby. You sure know how to wake up a man.”

With closed lids, a sleepy smile forms on Queeny’s face. She lays against me, her breasts brushing against the soft hair on my chest.
