“That’s it.” Coulter traced my shoulder with the back of his curled fingers. “So obedient now.”

Fuck you.

That savagery grew inside me as Coulter stepped around my back, his hand sliding around my neck until he grabbed my throat.

“Nooo.” Vivienne’s moan filtered through the booming music, the same one they played in The Order.

She shook her head, her hands clamped over her ears. She knew what they were doing…she knew.

I held onto that stare. Screams echoed in my head. I was fighting, desperately trying to hold on to the woman I’d once been. The woman they’d destroyed.

Get her to the table.

Those words slammed into me.

No.

I would not let that control take over.

Fight.

Fight!

FIGHT!

My mind held on to my sister, fixing my focus on her wide brown eyes and the blood stain on the front of her shirt.

“Look how easy she is now.” Coulter called to his men.

He swung me around, my breasts bouncing as I spun. But as his men lowered their gazes, taking in my body, I became aware of the room. My gaze searched the darkened corners.

“Get the fuck off her!” Vivienne screamed. “Get the FUCK OFF MY SISTER!”

She stepped forward, desperation roaring in her eyes, until I gave her a small shake of my head, stopping her cold. I reached up and pushed my thumb under the edge of the black bodysuit I wore, the one Riven’s sister had sold me in.

I didn’t need her protecting me.

Because I didn’t need that.

Not anymore.

THIRTY-FIVE

Riven

This was the third time we’d driven these streets.

The.

Third.

Motherfucking.

Time.

I tried to leash that merciless side of myself, but I was losing the goddamn battle. “If we’ve had no sighting then, don’t you think we should try somewhere else?”

Hunter jerked his gaze my way. His fists were white-knuckled around the wheel. “And where the fuck do you suggest we start?”
