"Creed," Knox turns from the passenger seat to look back at me. "You good?"

"What?" I question, turning to look at him. I didn't hear a word the man said to me, too busy lost in my thoughts trying to figure this mess out.

"I said that you need to stick near the bar and just keep an ear out for any rumors," Knox states again as he watches me closely. "Unless you want to stay in the truck?"

"Nah, I can stay by the bar," I shake my head trying to clear my thoughts but I can't help but feel like we're missing something still. Something feels wrong about this whole thing.

"I can see the wheels spinning in that brain of yours," Knox chuckles softly. "What are you thinking? Sky is going to be fine. We will get her back, I promise."

"Sky is tough. She will figure out how to keep her head down and stay safe until we get her," Trevor chimes in.

"That's not it," I sigh. "Something about this feels off. I don't know if the answers we are looking for are going to be here at the fight. It seems too easy like this is what they want us to be thinking and doing. Why else send the tattoo to our door? I think it was a distraction so we looked at the thugs and not at the female who was with them."

"I was thinking the same thing," Knox agrees. "It's why I still have our team looking into the camera footage. Valentina is also going back through all of Sky's research to see if there was something that got missed or any sort of connection between the research and those that were in the video."

"I know you said that Frankie was a dead end, but has anyone looked at the label company?" I inquire wondering if this is more something that's coming from the inside. It's something I've considered ever since Ezra's death. I thought everything was going well the first couple of years after we signed with Unchained Records. Before Ezra died, the label was trying to get more control and re-write our contract. They wanted more control. It's why my brothers and I started looking at creating our own recording company and branching out ourselves. We have the following and the connections to pull it off. We just had one more year on our contract. Plenty of time to put everything in place for the change. Then Ezra died and everything changed. The label took more control while we grieved. Somehow they managed to track down Sky and bring her back. Now things have been crazy again. It's the only connection I've been able to find this whole time.

"You think your recording label could be behind this?" Trevor asks, taking a quick look back at me before turning back to the road. "Is that even possible?"

"At this point, we need to look at everything," Knox murmurs, pulling his phone out. I can't see what he's doing but the light from the phone lights up the whole cab. "I ruled the label company out thinking there was no way they could be behind this, but maybe we should take another look. I never realized how many connections there were between Frankie and the label so clearly we must have missed something more. I'll let Valentina know to start digging from that angle."

"Thanks," I mumble, leaning my head against the window knowing there's nothing else I can do right now.

"Do you want me to turn around?" Trevor questions as he begins to slow down.

"No, let's still cover this lead. We need to look at everything even if I agree with Creed that this feels wrong." Knox continues typing away at his phone as Trevor speeds back up taking off down the two-lane highway.

Ten minutes later, Trevor slows the truck once more as he turns onto a dirt road. How he knows where he is going, I have no idea. At this point, I'm lost and am just along for the ride. The road's a bit bumpy as we make our way between the trees but they open up to several abandoned buildings. There's a big open dirt patch where many cars are parked and people are milling around. As we find a spot I can hear the music loud and clear from the building. I guess they don't care about being caught back here. It's not like there is anyone nearby who would call it in and say anything anyway. The people putting this on probably have lookouts as it is just in case the cops decide to swing by for some unknown reason. At least the fights I've been to with Gunner have been like that. Fuck, pretty sure at the last fight, they have cops as security for the night. I guess everyone needs to earn a little extra every now and then. To each their own, and all the shit.

"Alright, let's head inside and get this over with. The sooner we do the better," Knox opens his door jumping out of the truck. Trevor and I each follow and head to the door. I pull my hood up on my sweatshirt trying to hide my face. I'd rather not have people crawling all over me when they realize who I am. It'll just get in the way. The guy takes one look at Trevor and waves our group in immediately, letting us bypass the line to get in. A few guys grumble but when they see Trevor they shut their mouths immediately. I guess being a semi-famous fighter pays off.

"You all know your rules," Knox states. "Text if you find out any info. We need to be out of here by midnight at the latest."

Chapter Thirty

I ensured my bathroom break was shorter than two minutes. I knew my threat to keep the brute away from me wouldn't mean much if I used it again. I doubt there were cameras in the bathroom. Why would there be? There are no windows in here for me to use to escape from. The only way out is the way I came in. If he wanted to hurt me, rape me, or whatever he would be able to and nothing would stop him. No, I finished peeing and washing my hands in a minute and a half. Opening the door, Mr. Brute was standing right there staring me down. If I didn't know any better I'd think that he was about to charge right into the bathroom.

What an asshole.

"Can I help you?" I question sweetly, batting my lashes like I'd seen girls in movies do when they were trying to act innocent. His only answer was to roughly grab my bicep and pull me along down the hallway once again. I didn't bother reminding him that he was going to leave a bruise. I already made my point. Might as well see what happens to him when he doesn't follow orders.

He pulls me behind him down several twisting hallways until I'm good and truly lost. Not like I knew where I was to begin with anyway. Eventually, he leads us into a large open area. My only guess is that it's some sort of common area because there isn't much around and she did say she was holding me at some abandoned jail. The only thing I know about jails is they are bound to have some common areas and maybe some sort of cafeteria. Then again this place has been gutted like no other so who truly knows what this room was used for in its prime?

"Sit down and stay put," he grunts, tossing me onto a metal chair that had seen better days.

The way he shoved me into the chair made it dig into my ass and back before I could adjust myself. I was definitely going to need a few tetanus shots after this. I'm pretty sure the chair had rust on it that cut my skin open as well from the rough handling. If I make it out of this healthy it'll be amazing. Why must kidnappers always put people in disgusting places? Can't you just kidnap someone and put them somewhere nice? Honestly.

I have no idea how much time passes sitting in the chair quietly. I try hard not to move or flinch at every sound I hear but it's hard to avoid. I'm going crazy here trying to figure out what's going on. At this point, I know I've been gone for a decent amount of time. Gunner, Creed, and Knox have probably teamed up to find me. I know biding my time is good, but I'm not going to sit here waiting for them to show up and find me. I'm a big girl and I don't need to keep being scared of the world.

I already spent years running and hiding from this crazy bitch. I let her run me out of town and away from my men in an effort to save them. She killed Ezra and left a calling card that only I would understand. She brought me back here. It sucks for her though because I'm not the same girl I was when I ran the first time. No, I had the owners of Rockport Security looking out for me. Trevor made sure I could fight just as well as every other member of the team. It was a requirement. He never wanted any of us to be in a position where we couldn't defend ourselves. I didn't have a chance to save myself in the bathroom, but I can save myself here. I will be going home to my men tonight and live to see another day. That's a promise.

"Ah, our main event has arrived," an all too familiar voice calls out. I can't make out the outline of the person it's coming from but her voice echoes around the room before she steps out from the darkness. "I bet you weren't expecting me. Were you, Sky?"

"You know out of everyone I had suspected to be behind this craziness you, Alexandra, were not at the top of my list." I was fuming. Actually, I was beyond fuming. How could I not have suspected this bitch. I don't remember her much from the early days in the band. I was too focused on music, touring, and my men. I knew she was around but it was all inconsequential to me. It was shocking to me either to find her having climbed the ladder and becoming a manager for the band in the time I was gone. I do remember her being ambitious but I figured someone else would deal with it. I guess I should have paid more attention back then and even now. She just seemed good at her job, always keeping the band on track. It was weird how she was always around when I didn't expect her to be but I just assumed she was harmless.

The initial background check I had done on her came up clear. She didn't have connections to anyone concerning and she was squeaky clean. she must have paid a pretty penny to keep everything clean for herself. That or she has a different name completely and I wasn't able to find it. Either way, I knew I was going to make this bitch hurt before I left. She said she wanted me, not my men. It's about time I find out just why she wanted me. Then and only then could I make her pay for her sins. And pay she would.

"Craziness?" She gasps in surprise. "I think the word you are actually looking for is genius. I'm far from crazy, Sky."
