“Gunner?” Lucas called, still rubbing the back of his neck.

“I feel like I need to Change,” Cadence whispered. “Lucas, are you doing that?”

“I feel it too,” Kru growled. “That ain’t Lucas pulling at our bonds.”

“Landon,” Lucia whispered. When he looked down at her, he could see it in her eyes—the grizzly. She looked…scared.

“What is it?” he asked fast.

Cadence pitched forward and screamed as her white tiger ripped out of her.

“What is it?” Landon yelled, gripping her shoulders as she buckled inward.

“The bonds. Gunner. Poison,” she choked out.

“Lucas!” Landon yelled. “Cut him off!”

“I’m fucking trying!” Lucas roared, his face red and sweat trickling down the sides of his face as he slammed his fists against the ground. His teeth were too long, and his face was animalistic.

Fuck. Fuck! He couldn’t feel any of this. He wasn’t bonded to this Crew!

A roar shuddered through the woods, shaking the trees. Landon snarled and turned toward the glowing eyes that paced back and forth in the shadows of the woods.

Jenna’s falcon exploded from her, and she went directly for Cadence’s white tiger with a war screech.

“Lucia, keep them apart!” he yelled as he jogged toward the trees.

“Landon?” Lucia choked out.

“Fight it!” he demanded, and then bolted for the trees.

The echoing snapping of his bones sounded like gunfire as he let the bear have his skin.

Gunner couldn’t do whatever he was doing to their Crew bond if he wasn’t breathing.

As he landed on all fours and barreled toward Gunner’s bear, who was charging toward him, he tossed one look over his shoulder.

Lucia’s silver bear was at war with Lucas’s silverback. Shhhhhit.

Enraged, Landon stretched his arms out and leapt through the air. He caught Gunner’s bear around the throat and latched his teeth onto him. Gunner had been ready, and pain ripped through Landon’s shoulder. Something was wrong with him. This wasn’t a normal bear fight—he was like an injured, cornered predator, fighting with a rage Landon didn’t understand.

Lucia’s bear roared, and it rattled Landon. He made a mistake, hesitated for a millisecond too long, and Gunner had his leg. He fought like hell, but it was taking too long to cut Gunner off.

The Warlanders were destroying themselves from the inside out.

Kru’s saber-toothed tiger was in the mix now, and he was attacking Cadence’s white tiger. No, no, no! That was his mate. This shouldn’t be happening!

Landon rounded and bolted out of the battle, toward the Warlanders. He had to split them up!

Gunner was right on his hind end. Good! It would make it easier for him to turn his attention on him after he was done wrecking the battle between the Warlanders.

He barreled straight into Lucas, who had Lucia’s bear in a choke hold. He went flying, and when he spun to check on Lucia, Gunner knocked into him like a cannonball. The wind left him as he flew sideways. The earth exploded under him as he slammed to it and skidded into the side of Lucas’s home. The front wall collapsed on him, and then Gunner was on him.

Landon braced for impact as Gunner charged toward him, eyes full of bloodlust, but as he tensed, Gunner flew off his course. Lucia’s silver bear was on him, latched onto the side of his neck and ripping as she shook her powerful neck back and forth.

Holy shit. She was going to kill him.

Flames leapt into the air behind the bear fight as Lucas drove Kru’s saber-tooth straight through the firepit. He held the big cat down onto the burning embers. Shit!
