Hell, maybe she was broken.

Gunner had told her, “Stop trying to get off the roller coaster, Lucia. Just ride it.” Perhaps he was right. Perhaps she’d been doing this life-gig wrong.

She’d absolutely been letting her powers dictate the trajectory of her life.

She pulled her phone out of her purse and opened a text thread to Landon. It took her a full minute to begin typing, because what could she possibly say after their fight last night?

Where did you get the stuffed animal? She typed, but then deleted it. Delete, delete, delete.

I remember the camping trip…delete, delete, delete.

Lucia inhaled deeply and typed out, Why didn’t you talk to me back then? Send.

She could see the dots that said he was typing almost immediately. And then they stopped, and started again. Stopped, then started.

Oh, he was overthinking like she always did. Why was that so damn cute to her? He was hot and had game. He was a catch, and he was nervous to respond to her? She was nothing special.

You were intimidating. Still are.

She read his response three times before she started typing. I’m not going to burn the pictures. You’re right. There is a lot of history there. I had really good memories going through these. Send.

I have a few more.

Really? Which ones? Send.

An image came through. When she opened it, it was a picture of her sitting on a beach in a black bikini just a few years ago. She wore red heart sunglasses and was holding up her middle finger. Her boobs were all pressed together and popping thanks to the padded swimsuit. Her knees were spread just a little, and she wore a shit-eating grin. Red lipstick painted her lips.

This was from a few summers ago, before she discovered she had the sight. She was happier back then. Confident, even.

Why didn’t you add that one to the box? Send.

Because…you don’t want to know. 8===D ~o ~o

“Ha!” Okay, he jerked off to this picture. And ew, did he just figure out how to draw text-sperm? She cackled and hugged the little raven closer as she drew her knees up and typed out, You can keep that one. Send. Who took all of the early pictures? Send.

Stupid fucking Nox. He used to make fun of me so much for liking you. He would take pictures of me staring at you, get them developed, and tape them to my stupid bedroom door. He’d constantly tease that he was going to tell the rest of the family I had a thing for a Novak.

I’ll have to thank Nox someday. Send.

Don’t encourage him. If I told him I came on your tits last night, he would never let me live down anything for the rest of my life. It’s been a year since he made fun of me for it. It’s a record. I hate him. He’s my least-favorite brother.

She was laughing now, imagining the ribbing he must’ve gotten all those years and the blackmail Nox held over his head with these pictures. She also knew the admission that Nox was Landon’s least-favorite brother was a lie. They had always palled around together.

She stood and padded to her bedroom. So you like black bikinis? Send.

Yes. The answer was immediate.

With a grin, she dug through her bathing suit drawer and pulled out the black bikini from his picture. She dressed quickly and slathered on some bright-red lipstick, pulled her hair band out of her hair and mussed her long, dark tresses, then struck a little pose in her full-length mirror and snapped a picture.

When she looked at the picture, she found a dozen things she didn’t like about it. She went to delete it, but changed her mind. He’d seen every inch of her last night, and he clearly didn’t mind her body.

With a little squeal, she boldly hit send and then waited.

And waited.

Chewing on her thumbnail, she threw the phone onto the bed and paced the room. What had she done? She’d sent a man a risqué photo of her! She’d never done this before!

Right now, she felt so sexy. She’d never felt like this in her life. No man made her feel like she could do and say anything she wanted.
