“Why are you doing this?” she wails.

“One,” I singsong.

“Stop that! Tell me why.” Her voice cracks on the last word, a sob breaking free.

“Two!”

She scrambles to her feet. “You’re a psycho bitch,” she yells as she tries to limp away. Fresh blood soaks her skirt with the movement. I might not have meant to nail her ass, but the butterfly sure did a job on it.

“Three, but thank you for noticing,” I call after her.

Not wanting to sit still, I catch up to her. “I’m leaving. Isn’t that what you wanted? To scare me, and maim me a little for good measure?”

“Four. It’s cute you think that. But really, I’m going to kill you. Watch the life drain from your cold, heartless eyes and then fuck your son until he can’t walk.”

She stops walking and stares me in the eyes. “Why would trash like you ever want to do such a thing to a sweet woman like me?”

“Because you hurt the man I love, and that can’t go unpunished.” I give her my best smile.

“I haven’t spoken to him in forever, so your blame is misplaced.” She takes a threatening step toward me, but she doesn’t have anything over me, no weapons, nothing to make me fear her.

“I don’t think it is. Eight, nine.”

“Fine,” she yells. “Then kill me if you’re so keen on it.”

“You shouldn’t call bluffs when you don’t hold the cards to win.” In a quick movement, I slash my butterfly across her neck, watching as her eyes go wide in disbelief. After a delay for her to process what happened, her hand flies to her neck, gripping it tight in a desperate hope it will save her.

“Nevermore, cunt. You won’t hurt your son ever again. After today, he won’t even think of you.” She shakes her head in denial. “Oh, and one more thing. We killed Trent months ago. There isn’t a single person out there who will think of you fondly, who will wonder where you are or what happened to you.”

I turn my back on her and walk toward my future. To the men I love more than anything else in the world. My footsteps feel like I’m walking on air.

Glancing at my hands, I realize I never needed to take the second butterfly out of its holster. The other has a trace of blood from where it both sank into her ass and then again when I sliced her neck. Fixing my grip, I turn around and throw it, watching it fly true this time and land in the center of her left eye.

“God you’re sexy when you kill. I’ll probably tell you every time,” Cole says, reaching down to adjust himself.

This time I sit on Jasper’s lap, studying his face. “Thank you, Little Bird.” He doesn’t need to say more, I know what he’s feeling.

“I love you, Jasper.” Glancing at the others, I say, “I love you all.”

“We know,” Cole replies, his finger tracing the spot where I shot him for a moment before reaching for his tablet. “So, what’s next? Shall we pick our next assassination?”

“Give us your top options,” Jasper grunts.

“Let’s do it,” Grayson says, rubbing his hands together. “I’m ready to run the show from the control room.”

“Anywhere Reginetta goes, I’ll be there to protect her,” Vander adds.

They all focus their attention on me, waiting for my reply. “You know I’m always game to add orgasms to your debt.”

My men laugh in unison, filling me with joy.

“Was last night not enough for you?” Grayson asks.

“Today’s a new day,” I say with a shrug.

Jasper nuzzles against my neck. “We’ll give you orgasms and then some soon.”

“Okay, first up, we have a request to take out a political figure, but it’s in Europe.” Cole turns his gaze on me, waiting for my answer. After all, I’m the one who calls the shots around here.
