“You did say this was going to work out.”
“That’s true,” Pony said. “Although I definitely did not see all… this… coming.”
Piper blew out a breath loudly, all the pent-up tension sliding out of her at long last. It really had worked out. Noprison time for her or Carly, she’d kept her job, and most of all, she got to stay with Pony.
There was no way she was going to take that last part for granted. Never again, would she let herself be put into a position where she had to compromise who she was or who she loved.
She gave him a little light punch on the arm, grinning.
“What do you think?” she said. “You and me, working together to take on the cartel?”
“I’ll tell you one thing. It’s sure to be a wild ride.”
“You in?” she said, raising a sly eyebrow.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
They slid into each other’s arms, lips pressing together in unrestrained passion that had been held in check for far too long. Piper leaned into it, letting her hands roam where they wanted to go across Pony’s body, until she forced herself to pull back before things got too heated and out of control.
“You know,” Piper said, “they definitely have cameras in this room. They’re probably watching us right now.
“Let them watch,” Pony said, and caught her up in his arms.
