“Caden and Blake had to go into the office for something,” Hallie said.

“Luke is working the graveyard shift again, and I hate being home alone at night,” Orly explained.

“So, we decided,” Hallie looked to Orly as if they’d rehearsed this -

“Girls night!” They both screamed through laughter.

“We got a hotel room,” Hallie said.

“With a twenty-four-hour spa,” Orly added. “So, I’m thinking mani pedis.”.

“Oooh, and a massage sounds heavenly,” Hallie added.

They both turned to look at Skyla just as her face split into the biggest smile of her life. How had she ended up with friends like these two?

The men in her life were users, and while it hurt her heart to think of Blake that way, he’d all but admitted to using her just to get closer to AJ.

Hallie and Orly though, she sighed. They were the kind of friends worth fighting for, and keeping for life. When they arrived at the hotel, Orly valeted the SUV, and all three women raced inside. As soon as they checked in, they made a beeline to the spa center.

Orly got her nails and toes done, Hallie got a massage, and Skyla got a facial. It was her absolute favorite spa thing to get. There was nothing better or more relaxing than having soft, warm hands massaging the stress out of her face, while applying cooling gels and lotions that cleaned and hydrated her skin. Skyla almost moaned with pleasure, as the lady drew lazy circles around her eyes, distributing whatever lotion she’d just applied.

After all three women were relaxed and feeling amazing, they went up to their room that had an amazing view of the city and collapsed on the bed. There were two queen size beds and a couch in the room, but somehow all three of them ended up on the same bed.

They laughed and giggled, and Skyla felt more at ease than she had in a long time. “This was incredible,” she said. “Thank you for kidnapping me.”

“Oh, it’s not over yet,” Orly said.

“We may have done a thing,” Hallie added. “And it’s coming in ten minutes.”

“Nice timing,” Orly said.

Skyla felt like her head was on a swivel trying to keep up with them. “What? What’s coming?”

Hallie smiled at Orly, who looked at Skyla with a mischievous grin. “Should we tell her?” Orly asked.

“Yes!” Skyla answered for them. “Tell me!”

“We ordered room service,” Orly said.

“But not just any kind of room service,” Hallie said, keeping up with the cryptic talk.

“Yeah,” Orly smiled. “We got junk food! Ice cream sundaes, with all the toppings, and chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate cake, and tiramisu.”

Skyla’s jaw dropped. She had the biggest sweet tooth and always loved dessert, but she hadn’t told anyone and didn’t think her friends noticed.

“We know you like sweets, but we weren’t sure which ones, so we got them all,” Hallie said.

Tears pooled in Skyla’s eyes as she nibbled on her bottom lip to keep them from streaming down her face. She hated crying, but these two women were beyond anything she could’ve ever imagined friends could be. “For me?” She whispered, still in disbelief.

Hallie rolled over and swung an arm around Skyla. Orly did the same from the other side. “Of course, for you. We love you and to say you had a rough night is an understatement. So, we thought we could do a little something to make it better.”

“I really don’t deserve you guys,” Skyla said, swiping at the tears that escaped down her cheeks.

“Too bad,” Orly said.

“Yep, because you’re stuck with us,” Hallie added. “And we would’ve come sooner, but I had to stay open a little later. Do you have any idea how many customers I had today all coming in with their ticket stubs from last night? It was beyond amazing. I think we should make Books and Booze an annual event and invite more small businesses to join in.”

“You guys make me wish I had a small business,” Orly said, dreamily.
