“Tell me more about this club then,” I say, settling back on the plush leather seats and taking another drink.

“Oh sure. So my friend from uni, Odi, she dropped out last year to have a baby, which actually turned out to be twins, but that’s not important…” I raise my brows as Lou rambles. Twins? No thanks. “She and her boyfriends know the club’s owners, and their girlfriend…”

“Hold on…” I say, holding up my hands to stop her. “Boyfriends? Plural?”

“Yes, so Odi has three guys, and they’re friends with the club’s owners. The five of them have a girlfriend called Candy, and her and Odi have sort of become friends after this kidnapping incident but?—”

“Whoa! Kidnapping? Lou, what the fuck are you tangled up in?”

“None of this happened to me,” she protests.

“What the hell kind of club are you dragging me to?” Maybe this was a bad idea. It sounds dangerous and I’m not sure I want to get tangled up in all of this. Lou may claim innocence, but I know she’s fucking around with a biker gang, so she’s clearly addicted to danger.

“A sex club.”

I blink. Shake my head to clear my thoughts and gape at Lou. “What?”

“You asked what type of club it was…it’s a sex club. So yeah, I guess it’s safe. They take that kind of thing very seriously.”

“I can’t go to a sex club!”

“Sure you can. It’s fine. It’s not like you have to take part or anything. Although there is an auction…”

“What?!”

“Oh relax,” Lou waves her hand dismissively. “It’s fine. We’ll have an amazing time.”

This is why you shouldn’t be friends with people who are younger than you. My idea of a good night out is wine and cheese tasting with a prompt seven pm start, so that I can be in bed by ten. I thought Lou was dragging me clubbing, notsex clubbing.Fuck my life.

I take a deep breath, trying to process the bombshell Lou just dropped on me. A sex club? An auction?! This was definitely not what I signed up for when I agreed to go out with her. I can feel my heart racing, a mix of anxiety and disbelief swirling inside me.

“Lou, I really don’t think this is a good idea,” I say, my voice wavering slightly. “I mean, an auction? What even gets auctioned at a sex club?”

It’s too close to the memory of what happened at ‘Wicked Temptation’. A memory I was not prepared to be confronted with tonight.

Lou chuckles, clearly unfazed by my distress. “Relax, it’s all in good fun,” she reassures me. “And you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to. We can just enjoy the music and drinks.”

I’m not convinced. The thought of being in such a provocative environment makes me uneasy. But I also don’t want to ruin Lou’s night or come across as uptight.

Maybe I could just stay by her side and keep a low profile. Unless Lou plans to partake, in which case, I’ll have to give her some space, or things at work will get real awkward real quick.

As the limo pulls up outside the club, I take a deep breath and steel myself for what lies ahead. Stepping out onto the bustling street, the neon lights of the club beckoning us closer, I can feel a sense of trepidation building within me.

Lou links her arm through mine, excitement written all over her face. “Come on, it’ll be an adventure!” she urges, leading me towards the entrance.

The entrance has sleek, black doors with gold handles and accents, and it looks like an upmarket nightclub or even a fancy restaurant.

Until the doors are opened for us.

I follow her inside, my senses assaulted by the pulsing music and dimly lit surroundings. The air is thick with anticipation and a heady mix of scents that make my head spin as memories hit me in rapid succession.

Me, blindfolded, on my knees, mouth open, begging…

I try to keep my composure as we enter the club, trying to blend in with the crowd of revellers. The thumping bass reverberates through my bones, and the dim lighting casts strange shadows on the walls.

Lou seems completely at ease, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she scans the room. This club is less risqué than ‘Wicked Temptation’. It looks like it really could pass for a nightclub – albeit an incredibly exclusive, up market one. The bartenders and waitresses are fully clothed, and most of the punters seem to be as well.

We make our way to the bar, and I order a stiff drink to steady my nerves. Members seem to be wearing wristbands for the cashless bar system, but as a VIP for one night only, I have a temporary wristband.
