Bex raised an eyebrow. “I do. I could never forget that.”

“Good.” A small smile touched his lips. “It meant the world to me, so I hope you remember.”

“I do. You’re stuck with me now.”

Aiden grinned. “The minute you stumbled drunk back into my life I was stuck with you. Last night had nothing to do with it.”

She bit a piece of bacon. “Well, now you’re legally stuck with me.”

“I couldn’t walk away from you again,” he said. “You’re mine. No matter what.” He gave her a wry look and sipped his coffee.

“I’m yours no matter what,” she agreed.

He winked at her. “Good to know.” He gestured to her food. “Eat up. We have a long drive.”

After a small road trip and several hours in the rental car, Bex and Aiden pulled into the parking lot of a Mediterranean style building near the Pacific ocean. She could hear the waves crash nearby when she stepped out of the car.

“Where are we?”

Aiden rounded the car to stand by her side. One hand went to her lower back, the other to her stomach.

He said, “I know you didn’t have any input here. We can take the honeymoon you want anywhere once you have our baby. Right now, since we can’t fly and have a special guest on board, I chose a babymoon.”

“A what?”

“A babymoon. This is a spa that specializes in pregnancy.” He smiled and kissed her cheek. “There are great doctors on call. The restaurant caters to cravings. There’s a bar that offers shakes and miscellaneous baby safe drinks. A pool. Access to the Pacific. Basically, this place will pamper you for the next couple of weeks. Whatever you want. And the best doctors are available if labor happens.”

“Aiden...” He was postponing their honeymoon for her. For their baby.

“I want you to be comfortable and to feel safe. We have forever together. Our honeymoon can wait. This is more important.”

He wrapped his arm around her back and led her toward the front door. “I’ll come back out later for our bags. Let’s just get checked in.”

She glanced at his firm jaw then focused on walking. How thoughtful and sweet. Blake would never have done that. Blake would have insisted on a honeymoon.

They walked through the front door into an impressive lobby lined with large windows and approached the dark haired receptionist, who smiled at them. “Hello.”

“Hi, Bex and Aiden Whittaker checking in,” Aiden said.

“Welcome. You’re in room number 342.” The receptionist slid two key cards across the counter. She also added a brochure and a printout. “There is a pamphlet in your room that describes our amenities and local attractions, plus there’s a comprehensive list of activities you can do. Please take the time to browse through it. Here is a copy of your schedule during your stay. You can add or remove any activities you want. Just dial the number at the bottom of your schedule and they will make the adjustments. If you need anything, like a pregnancy pillow, please call and let us know. Your comfort is our specialty.”

“Thank you.” Aiden picked up the items from the counter.

“Can you please swipe a credit card here? We take a small deposit at the start. All activities, the room, and any incidental charges will be billed against the deposit then anything additional goes on the card. We’ll give you a final bill for your review when you check out.” The receptionist slid a credit card machine onto the counter.

“Sounds good.” Aiden swiped a card, grabbed the receipt, and nodded at the receptionist. He steered Bex toward the elevator.

“Let’s get settled in the room, then we can explore,” he said.

They stepped inside the elevator and rode it up. When it arrived at their floor, they stepped out and walked to their room. The hallways were lined with a soft gray carpet and painted a soothing pastel blue.

Aiden opened their door for them. Inside, the room was a soft sea green and the king sized bed held white bedding. A patio set outside filled a small balcony and a breakfast table set innocuously inside. The typical hotel bathroom was situated by the door. The room screamed comfort and relaxation.

The pamphlet turned out to be a binder, which rested on the table.

Aiden put the schedule and brochure beside the binder, then took her hand and led her to the bed. They laid down together on the firm mattress. Aiden kissed her forehead and they snuggled. “Let’s take a nap, Pixie. The activities start tomorrow so we have all night together.”
