Normally, a junior member of staff would be supervising, but tonight, it was just Stella and me.

Everyone else had disappeared just before the storm hit. It felt like the universe was on my side and I wasn’t going to miss this opportunity.

Stella stood, chewing her lip distractedly. I watched as she headed into the stacks, in search of a textbook she needed. Lightning split the sky, casting the buildings in stark relief. A few seconds later, there was an almighty crack of thunder directly overhead. The yellow lights above us flickered and then went out, plunging the library into darkness.

“Quinn?” Stella was scared. I could hear it in the way her voice hitched on my name.

“It’s fine, the power will be back on shortly, the school has a backup generator.”

“I don’t like the dark,” she admitted.

I leaped up from my chair, finding my way to her through the shadows. The scent of her light vanilla perfume drew me to her like a honeybee to a fragrant bloom. The minute I reached her, she fell into my arms and sighed with relief.

“Sorry,” she whispered. “I usually love storms, but with everything that’s happened lately, my anxiety is out of control.”

“Hey, it’s fine. I’m here with you. Nobody’s here but us. We’re safe.”

I hoped that was true and there wasn’t some psychopath stalking us through the library wielding a huge hunting knife. I’d seen enough horror movies to know how that ended.

“I know you’re right,” she said, “I’m being silly. School is safe.”

“It is. The families that send their kids here spend a shit lot of money for the privilege and the school takes their safety very seriously.” Neither of us pointed out the fact Stella’s room had been broken into and the culprit still hadn’t been identified.

“Thank you,” she murmured, her body pressed against mine.

“For what?” I asked, curious.

“For being here with me, making me feel safe.”

“Anything for you, cupcake.”

She snorted.“Cupcake?”

“Cupcakes are sweet, tempting, and delicious. My guilty pleasure.”

“Do you feel guilty being here, with me, when I’m…with Harley?” There was a note of anxiety in her voice. I wished I could read her face, but it was too dark.

“Not at all. And you shouldn’t either. He’s not jealous of me, or vice versa. We like to share. As you already know.”

I cupped her face and brought my mouth closer to hers until we were breathing the same air. “I also like having you all to myself.” She exhaled softly and then my lips were on hers, taking what I wanted until both of us were breathless.

“We should probably leave,” she told me when we broke apart.

“You’re not going anywhere,” I growled. “I’ve been dreaming of ravishing you in the library for weeks.”

“Ravishing?” she choked on a laugh. “Someone’s been reading too many Regency romances.”

“I hear you prefer dragon shifter smut. I caught Brax reading one.”

“Oh my god, was he enjoying it?” Her body shook with laughter.

“Yeah, I’d say so. I read a bit. It was pure filth.” Her fingers traced light circles on my chest, forcing even more blood to be diverted to my aching cock. “So what is it about these books you like? Do they turn you on?”

I cupped her rounded ass and pulled her tighter against my body so she could feel exactly what she was doing to me. The way she moaned pushed me closer to the edge.

Fuck, I needed to get inside her. Last time, in the shower, had been hot as fuck, but Harley had hoarded her all to himself ever since.

It had been too long, and I was done waiting.
