Stella was a mass of contradictions. She confused the shit out of me. Once I’d looked beyond her hideous clothes, I could see she was drop-dead gorgeous. So why was she hiding her looks? She always wore hats, and it was obvious she dyed her hair. Nobody in their right mind would choose that shade of green-brown. It was seriously fucking hideous.
The way she kept everyone at a distance was odd too. I’d watched her over the last few weeks, and it was clear she hadn’t made any friends. Not one. The only people she really talked to were me and my boys. And that was only because we forced her to. Even then she seemed uncomfortable with that level of interaction.
If it was any other girl, I’d have given up by now. I could have any woman I wanted. It had always been that way since I developed muscles and matured into my body. But Stella was an anomaly.
I knew she felt this attraction between us. The way she’d melted against me as I kissed her told me that. But for whatever reason, she seemed determined to fight it. Well fuck that. I fully intended to have her by any means necessary. That girl was hot as fuck and I wanted to taste her. All of her.
My cock was still semi-hard as I strolled into our apartment and Quinn looked a bit disgusted when he clocked the tent I was pitching in my shorts.
“Seriously? It’s way too early to be seeing your dick. Go rub one out or something.”
“It’s Stella’s fault,” I grumbled, thinking I might have to do as he suggested, or take a long, cold shower. Quinn nearly choked on his toast.
“How is it her fault exactly?”
I scrubbed my jaw, debating whether to tell him what had happened and then blurted it out anyway. “I kissed her.”
Quinn’s eyebrows shot up into his hairline and he stared at me in surprise. “And she let you?”
“Yeah…until she didn’t.” I frowned, still a bit annoyed she’d shoved me away. “But she was into it,” I added, in case he thought I’d forced her or something. Which I wouldn’t, obviously, because I wasn’t a douche like Kieran Massey, who I knew for a fact spiked girls’ drinks on the regular.
Quinn sat down with a slice of toast hanging from his fingers. I couldn’t decide whether he was impressed or jealous. It was starting to feel like we all had a thing for Stella. That would prove interesting. I didn’t have an issue with sharing, but I wasn’t sure Brax would feel the same way. He was very possessive about shit like that.
“How did it happen?”
“I met her out running in the forest, we got chatting. I saw an opening and I took it. No flies on me brother!” I smirked and he scowled again. “You snooze, you lose!”
“Fuck you,” he snarled. “You probably scared her away now. And ruined it for the rest of us.”
“Ruined what?” Quinn and I both turned in shock. It was rare for Brax to be up this early, he was usually comatose until at least 10 AM.
“Harley kissed Stella and she ran away.”
Brax blinked in surprise. I saw jealousy too, but he hid it quickly. “Oh? How did you manage that? She barely talks to any of us.”
“Natural charisma, brother. I got it, you don’t.” I grinned like the asshole I was, and his eyes narrowed to angry slits. So much for him waking up in a decent mood. I guess I’d just popped his happy little balloon.
I felt a bit guilty but fuck it. Stella wasn’t his even if he probably thought she should be. While I was sympathetic to the shit he was going through after his dad’s death, I wasn’t about to step back and ignore my attraction to Stella. Hell no. All’s fair in love and friendship. Or something.
“Yeah right. In your dreams,” Quinn scoffed. “I bet she avoids you like the plague now.”
“Nah, she won’t. I’ll up my game and charm the shit out of her.”
“A hundred bucks says you get nowhere.”
“You’re on.” We shook on it while Brax continued to glare at me.
“What’s up?” I asked him, innocently.
“Nothing,” he snapped before stalking back into his room and slamming the door.

My lips were still tingling even after a semi-cold shower, which I’d needed to dampen the raging hormones flooding my body.
