“Someone’s pleased to see me,” I smirked.

“Always,” he grinned.

“When you two have finished flirting, we need to talk,” snapped Brax.

I looked at him in surprise. Why was he being so grumpy all of a sudden? The meal with his grandmother and mom notwithstanding, we’d had a lovely evening. Somewhat reluctantly, I broke away from Harley, trying not to smile at the way his towel tented at the front.

“Be right back,” he laughed, as he turned toward the bedroom.

“Yeah, put some fucking pants on so I don’t have to look at your dick,” yelled Brax.

“You’re just jealous, asshole!”

Brax ground his teeth and dropped down on the sofa next to Quinn, who was fighting to control his amusement. Although it soon faded when Brax told him about the two faceless suit guys in the diner.

Quinn cursed. “Fuck, that’s not good. I thought we’d be fine making this random trip here, purportedly to attend the gallery opening and catch the game tomorrow.” He frowned. “It seems as if someone, most likely our friend Agent Norcross, is keeping tabs on Stella, although they must have missed the Ohio trip.”

“They did look like feds,” Brax agreed. “The cheap suits gave them away. Nobody other than schmucks on a government salary would be seen dead in off-the-peg suits that bad.”

I rolled my eyes at his blatant snobbery before pointing out the obvious. “If they know I visited the bank, they might be aware of the safe deposit box in my name.”

“Which is why we need to see what’s on the drive you retrieved,” Quinn confirmed.

“But we don’t have a laptop!”

“We do now.” He pointed to the MacBook on the table by the window.

“Where did that come from??” Amazon was good, but not that good.

“While you guys were enjoying a lovely evening with Brax’s family, Harley and I took a trip to the Apple Store in Kenwood.”

“What, so you dropped 1,600 bucks on a new MacBook Pro just to look at the contents of a USB drive?”

Harley reappeared wearing a pair of gray sweatpants. I tried not to drool but it was oh-so-difficult. “Why wouldn’t we?” he shrugged. “It’s small change to Mr. Fucking Loaded here.”

“Yeah, sorry, I’ve gotten used to being the poor girl with fuck-all money. Ignore me, you entitled bastards.” Not that I would have spent money with so little regard before Dad got arrested. I tried not to feel irritated at the boys’ attitude to money. It was the life they knew, so I really shouldn’t judge them. And besides, the only reason we were here, in this city, was because they’d paid for it all. God, I’m an ungrateful bitch.

“Yeah, you are.” Quinn smirked at me, and I realized too late I’d said that last bit out loud. “Anyway, moving on, how about we look at what’s on the drive? If there’s anything interesting, I’ll upload it to a private server and then we can destroy the drive before it falls into the wrong hands.”

Brax nodded. “Sounds good. Give him it, Stella.”

Chapter 94

Quinn

Stella’s fingers brushed mine when she handed me the USB drive and I felt the spark all the way down to my cock. It had been too long since I’d had her. Last night was a bust thanks to the amount of alcohol we’d all consumed, and this morning, well, my fucking head felt like it was going to explode.

Now, though, I was feeling much better. Only I could see that things between Brax and Stella were evolving.

He wasn’t keeping her at arm’s length anymore. When they walked in, he looked almost happy, which was surprising given the stress of the evening.

As much as I wanted to take her to bed, I was tempted to see what happened between them tonight. Although, given how his mood had taken a sudden nosedive, I wasn’t confident anything would happen.

It needed to, though. If I had blue balls, his must be the worst case ever. I knew he hadn’t fucked anyone in months.

Poor Stella was in for a rough ride when they finally did get down to it.

I smiled to myself as I pushed the USB drive in and waited for the computer to recognize it.
