“Yeah, they do,” Victor said. “And I’ll make it happen.” He stood and reached his hand out to Logan. They shook hands and Victor said, “I owe you, man.”

“All I want is your little sister.”

“Well, you have my blessings, not that it ever meant much to her,” Vic said, smirking at her. “Jinx always went her own way and did whatever she wanted no matter what anybody else said. And in this case I’m really grateful she did.”

“I’m just sorry it took me this long,” she said.

Logan turned his head and looked up at her. “Hey, you and I both had things we needed to accomplish during those intervening years before this could work out for us.”

After Victor left, Jinx climbed onto Logan’s lap. He murmured a “thank you” in her ear and then just hugged her for so long she felt waves of love penetrating though her whole body and soul.

Finally he said, “Now that we have that settled, the next question is whether you want to make your own engagement ring or go to someplace like Tiffany’s with me to pick it out.”

Jinx pulled her chin back. “Logan, are you asking me to marry you?”

He grinned. “Yeah, I am. Do you want to marry me?”

“That is not a very romantic way to ask me.”

“Well, if you tell me what kind of ring you want, I could wait and plan some romantic scenario and ask you then.”

“No way. I’ve waited long enough to have you be mine.”

His eyes met hers. “And I couldn’t possibly love you any more than I already do, so I figure, why wait?”

Jinx kissed him and then thought a minute. “How about if I make the engagement ring, but we design it together? And I will also make double wedding bands to match?”

“Sounds good. Now, are you ever going to tell me yes?”

She touched her forehead to his and said, “Yes, Logan, I will marry you. I love you so much. Becoming your wife is a dream come true for me.”

“A dream we’ve shared for so long, my love.”

“I thought you liked my house in Beverly Hills,” Logan said, as they drove through the wrought iron gate onto a private drive to an enormous three-story mansion

for sale in the North Fork.

“I do,” Jinx said, thinking of the outrageous mansion Logan had in California not far from his West Coast offices. She’d gone with him the last time he went there and was thrilled with the luxurious yet comfortable feel of the place that would be hers too now. “I love it, and I’m excited that you’re going to have a workshop built in the backyard for me to do my jewelry.”

“It gets cold here in the North Fork, so we would need to put your workshop in a wing of the house instead.” He pointed. “Like down that end. The penthouse is going to be the biggest issue because you can’t use your torch there and—”

“Stop worrying about that,” she said. “I can schedule my work just like you do, sweetheart.”

“This is not all that far from your parents’ house. And now you will have a studio on each coast for your new celebrity clients ordering those special-made pieces, thanks to Portia.”

The real estate agent took them through all the rooms and when they stopped in one that had floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Sound, Logan said, “Since Bajinx is a short walk from the bay, I thought it would be nice to have an East Coast house that is a short walk from the Sound.”

“It’s beautiful,” she said, hardly believing this was all happening, that she and Logan were planning a future together.

He looked at the agent and said, “Would you mind giving us some time alone to wander around a little?”

When the woman left, he said, “What is it, Jinx? Is something wrong?”

“No, my darling, it’s just a lot to take in. I mean, Natalie’s husband has a lot of money, but you are in a whole other league and even though I dreamed of us being together, I never, um…”

“Do you not like this house? Would you prefer something that is—”

“No. This is one of the most beautiful houses I’ve ever seen.”
