The Spellreader and the Phoenix
Can a happily ever after start with an accident?
Max
Owning a bookshop would be perfect if only it didn’t involve customers. As a witch who’s also a rare Spellreader, Max can find the spells that other witches need, as long as they’re not so rude that he hangs up on them. This keeps his store afloat, and his life follows a predictable pattern, just the way he likes it, until Rory crashes—literally—into his life. Max has never met anyone like this cheerful shifter, and he doesn’t know quite what to do with him, but he’s also… intrigued.
Rory
Rory’s spent the last ten years—he’s pretty sure it’s not more than ten years!—in his bird form. He takes life as it comes, and he’s happy flying place to place as he waits to find his mate. When his excitement at finally spotting the man leads to him crashing right into his mate’s window, he seizes the opportunity to get to know him. Together, Rory’s certain there’s nothing they can’t do… if he can convince his grumpy mate that they’re meant to be together.
The Spellreader and the Phoenix is an 110K MM urban fantasy novel. It features a grumpy demi bookshop owner who can read any spell ever written, and a sunshine phoenix who’s never met a person he doesn’t like. It’s low-angst and low(er) spice. It can be read as a standalone, but for full continuity, the series should be read in order.
