Line Change
My new linemate is straight, uptight, and convinced he knows what’s best for our team.
So naturally, I invite him up to my hotel room.
Ben Pope has a championship ring, a reputation for behaving himself, and far too many opinions about how I play hockey.
I have tattoos, a big mouth, and no intention of making his move to Seattle easy. Especially once I notice how much time he spends staring at me.
I figure he’ll turn down the invitation. Maybe tell me to grow up.
Instead, he follows me upstairs.
Turns out Saint Pope has a filthy mouth and some very specific ideas about what to do with mine.
Afterward, he says he’s straight. Just curious.
I can help with curious.
Except now he’s texting me all day, staying over, and kissing me before I’ve finished closing the door. We’re having dinner together. Watching games. Doing things I’d call dating if he didn’t look ready to flee every time the subject came up.
I like him. Even when we’re wearing clothes.
Which was never supposed to happen.
Ben still has a lot to figure out, and I’m trying to give him time.
But I’m falling for the guy, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep pretending that being his experiment is enough.
