Hawthorne House has five new rules.
Don’t cost us.
Don’t take the bait.
Show the f*ck up.
Do the work.
Win the f*cking thing.
It’s January. My senior season is running out, three of us are graduating, and the house that has belonged to us for four years will start belonging to somebody else.
I have two things to do before that happens: fix my game and figure out what comes next.
Gianna Reeve isn’t supposed to complicate either one.
She’s my captain’s sister. The loudest person in every room. A permanent fixture at Hawthorne who asks a hundred questions and somehow expects me to answer every one.
Then she tells me she likes me.
I tell her I didn’t know.
Apparently, that was the wrong answer.
Now I notice when she walks into Hawthorne. I notice when she leaves. I know what she orders, when she’s pretending not to be nervous, and exactly how quiet the house feels when she isn’t in it.
She wants to know if I wish she hadn’t told me.
I don’t.
I just don’t know what comes after that.
Gianna has always been part of this house. She’s at our kitchen table, in the stands at our games, and tangled up in every friendship that matters to me. If I cross that line with her, nothing stays simple.
Doing nothing would be easier.
It would also require me to stop thinking about her.
Every game brings us closer to the final horn. The team is fighting for one last championship, Hawthorne House is already beginning to change, and I still don’t know where I’ll be when the next season starts.
Gianna thinks I don’t know what I want.
She’s mostly right.
But every time she gets close to me, the answer becomes a little harder to ignore.
On His Team is a low-angst, brother’s-best-friend college hockey romance featuring a calm defenseman, a talkative heroine, secret hookups, found family, plenty of hockey, and no third-act breakup. This is the fifth and final book in The Boys of Hawthorne House series. It can be read as a standalone, but because this is the emotional conclusion to Hawthorne House, reading the series in order is highly recommended.
