The Callahan Effect
Mason Brooks came to Evergreen University for one reason-to play hockey.
A gifted forward with his sights firmly set on the NHL, Mason expects hard practices, fierce competition, and the pressure that comes with joining one of the country’s most successful college hockey programs. What he doesn’t expect is Jack Callahan.
Jack is the coach’s son, a medical student, and the man responsible for keeping Evergreen’s ice in perfect condition. He hasn’t spoken since he was six years old, but Mason quickly discovers Jack doesn’t need a voice to make himself heard. Their friendship becomes an attraction neither man can ignore, forcing two closeted men to decide whether what they’re finding together is worth stepping beyond the lives they’ve carefully protected.
Then an accident threatens everything Mason has worked for.
As Mason faces months of rehabilitation and the possibility that his hockey career may never be the same, Jack refuses to let him face the fight alone. Their relationship deepens through setbacks, victories, and an uncertain future until Mason realizes the greatest thing he found at Evergreen was never waiting beneath the arena lights.
He came to Evergreen chasing a championship.
And found the man he wants beside him when the final horn sounds.
