Unmoored: How to Fail at Hating the Boss

Lucky me, I hooked a summer job at the local marina. What could be better after a long school year spent indoors than basking in the sun and swimming in the lake? Unbeknownst to me, the job also comes with a gruff supervisor who seems to hate me. He may be hot, but he’s annoying. Reef nitpicks my every move. When the annual boat race needs a last minute pair of judges, Reef picks me, the clumsiest of employees, to work the race with him. What he doesn’t know is I’m a one-woman pleasure cruise, and not even his stormy attitude can dim my sunshine.

When the town’s annual boat race dives into chaos, I have to take charge and find two new judges. Quincy is the obvious choice. She’s upbeat, works hard, and takes orders. That means the only choice for a second judge is me. One: I don’t trust any of the other employees to be alone with Quincy in a boat all day long. Two: I may hate the idea of working on race day (it upsets my routine, you know?), but I have a feeling that Quincy will make it fun. She has that effect on people. And what can I say? I want to bask in her glow, even if I know she’s off limits.
