Stalked By the Shortstop

I watch her like it is my purpose in life.

Two short months ago, it was baseball. I’ve lived and breathed the game since the moment my dad put a ball in my crib determined to live my life as a professional baseball player.
One look at her smile reconfigured the way my brain works. I no longer crave being out in the field. Instead, it’s her who I need. Want. Sadie Flores has no how idea how the sight of her brought something dark to life, this thing inside of me that prevents me from going up to her and introducing myself like a regular person.
That isn’t me. I calculate. I watch. I learn. For the past sixty days, my whole life revolved around her. There isn’t a step she took I missed, even in the privacy of her own dorm. Boundaries know no limits when it comes to my girl. Just like when I’m on the field, there isn’t a play I’m not ready for.

Obsessed and depraved, I like knowing she is safe while I lurk in the shadows behind her. Until one night I’m forced to step into the light. Her light.
