Kara Gallagher has bigger problems than her love life, or lack of one. As the daughter of an Irish mob boss, she’s always been a target for anyone who wants to take over her father’s empire. She’s been on the run since birth, but that doesn’t stop men from wanting her simply because of whose daughter she is.

But when her past catches up with her on Christmas Eve and an unexpected rescue leaves her stranded at the hospital pretending to be the fiancée of a sexy stranger, she knows her problems have just doubled. Especially when she realizes that his touch makes her feel more alive than she’s ever felt in her life. Could he be the prince charming she’s always sworn she never wanted?

Angelo Vertucci, one of Chicago’s most eligible bachelors and a five-star chef never, imagined his night volunteering at the soup kitchen would end up with him being stabbed while stopping a robbery. Or that he’d wake up after surgery to find his “fiancée” waiting for him with his family.

Once he realizes the quiet, beautiful woman with sorrow-shadowed eyes is still in danger, he proposes to extend their fake engagement by having her move in with him so he can protect her. But there’s just one problem. Having Kara so close will make it hard to keep his hands off her when he’s sworn to be a gentleman.

What does a prince have to do in order to convince his princess she never has to run again?
