I love my birth pack, I really do. But that doesn’t mean I want to lead it. Every time I bring this up to my alpha father, he tells me to wolf-up and take my birthright so he can retire. I’ve been holding him off for years, but this trip back is me admitting defeat.
It’s not even the job of pack alpha that has me so uncomfortable. It’s knowing that my mate isn’t in my pack. Once I accept the role of alpha, a mate is expected, and that means giving up on my dream of finding my true mate.
When I head to the diner to grab a bite, I hear a screaming match by the dumpster and do what I always tell myself I will never do—step right into the middle of drama. And not just any drama. Nope.
