So when the unthinkable actually happens, the first thing Dalton does when he finishes his own military service is head straight to small town Trinity Falls during the holidays to fulfill his promise.

As the hours he spends outside working the land begin to soothe his troubled heart, he quickly finds that he feels right at home with Andy’s parents and friends.
But Andy’s little sister Ella is another story.
After losing her husband, the young widow and her daughter are back home living with her parents. And as they work together on the farm, Dalton immediately feels drawn to the young woman who bears the losses of her husband and her brother so bravely.
Teasing a smile out of Ella’s sweetly shy daughter, Dove, has become the lonely veteran’s favorite pastime. And he finds himself living for the moments when Ella stops her endless chores to share a quiet chat with him.
But Ella’s heart seems to be locked away from the world. And after her brother’s sacrifice and her double loss, would it even be right for Dalton to search for the key?
