Elizabeth's Accidental Engagement
Elizabeth Bennet meant to save Mr Darcy from fortune hunters.
Instead, she accidentally announced their engagement.
Elizabeth had only one intention — to protect Mr Darcy from a pack of determined fortune hunters eager to trap him into marriage.
Declaring herself engaged to him was not, in hindsight, the best solution.
She certainly hadn’t expected him to confirm it.
Nor for Lydia to announce the engagement to the entire garden party.
With their reputations now tied together, Elizabeth proposes a sensible plan: maintain the pretence for a short while, then part ways with their dignity intact.
There is only one problem.
Mr Darcy seems to have no intention of ending the engagement at all.
Soon Elizabeth finds herself travelling to Matlock as Mrs Darcy, accompanied by the entire Bennet family — and their particular brand of chaos.
As the days unfold, she begins to discover that the man she married on impulse is far more thoughtful — and far harder to forget — than she ever expected.
But when the fortune hunters return, Elizabeth’s secrets may destroy the marriage that is only just beginning to feel real.
