I spent my life in the small town of McKenzie River, known to many as the gentle giant due to a childhood head injury. Some called me slow, but I was strong, kind-hearted, and fiercely protective of my loved ones. My family, while loving, is often stifling and overly protective. When Deputy Sheriff Daniel Latham arrived in town to work at the local sheriff’s department, I felt an instant attraction. Daniel is so beautiful that it makes me ache, yet fearing my mother’s disapproval, I tried to avoid him…until my feelings became undeniable.

I moved to McKenzie River to escape my overbearing parents, who incessantly tried to set me up with women despite knowing I’m gay. I quickly adapted to the quirky small-town life and its residents. From the moment I met Harlow McKenzie, I was captivated by him. However, another deputy warned me to steer clear of Harlow because of his reputation as “the dumb one” in the McKenzie family. Despite this warning, my interest in the sexy giant only grew stronger.

Everything changed when I was injured responding to a police call and Harlow found me hurt in the woods. He carried me back to his home to care for my wounds. As I recovered, an undeniable attraction simmered between us. Yet, trouble loomed not just from Harlow’s overprotective mother, but from a risky case I’m working on. If I can navigate these challenges and win the McKenzie family blessing, I might just find a way to be with Harlow.
