When a demon with an unnatural hatred for tinsel and an insatiable thirst for revenge escapes the underworld, my friends and I are called in to hunt him down before he can wreak havoc. But as the bodies keep dropping in gruesome and ritualistic ways, it becomes clear that his arrival isn’t just a random jailbreak. Something or someone helped him cross into our world, and the deeper we dig, the more it feels like we’re being played.
When I think I can juggle the hunt and the chaos that comes with it, my son shows up for a visit. It’s supposed to be a chance to pretend, just for a little while, that I have a normal life. But the demon strikes too close to home, and in the aftermath, I am forced to confront not only the trauma of my past but the gaping wound left by the husband I lost.
