Avery Langhorn has a terrible track record when it comes to choices in men. He’s also had someone watching over him without his knowledge. Avery was born with a heart defect that wasn’t detected until he was a teen and nearly died. The kindness of a stranger’s family allows him to live his life without the possibility of an untimely death, and Avery hopes to somehow pay back the debt he owes his donor, but he’s not sure how.

There’s been a voice in his head since he woke from surgery, leading him down a path with protective advice along the way. It strikes Avery as odd that the voice doesn’t sound like anyone he’s ever met, but it’s always full of knowledge and good advice. The voice has steered Avery clear of heartbreak more than once—that is, when Avery listens to it.

When a stranger comes along to rescue him during a freak accident, the voice tells Avery the man is important to him and he should give the guy a chance. Is the voice right, or is it just Avery’s overactive imagination?

When Avery meets the owner of the voice, should he listen to it, even when it seems impossible that the voice is right?
