He was the confident football captain with his life all mapped out, and she was swept up in a love she hadn’t been looking for. But after graduation, she left town, joined the Army, and built a new life when everything changed.

Jayson had a plan—win Lana’s heart for good and build their future together. But when she left him at his lowest point, his life was thrown into chaos. Now a deputy sheriff in their hometown of Hellburn Falls, North Carolina, Jayson is working a case that’s tearing the town apart. And to his surprise, the team called in to help includes the one woman he’s never been able to forget.
Lana, now part of a specialized task force in Colorado, never planned on returning home for anything but to settle her late father’s estate. Yet, fate intervenes. Thrust back into Jayson’s orbit, she must face the man who broke her heart—and keep hidden the secret she’s carried for the last ten years. Can they put the past behind them long enough to solve the case? Or will the truth Lana’s been holding onto finally break them apart for good?
