Growing up, there was no one I admired more than my father. So like him, I pursued a career in law. But while in law school, I discovered that justice isn’t as blind as I’d thought, and often those who can’t afford it, don’t get the representation they need, innocent or not. But when I tell my father of my plan to become a criminal defense attorney, he is less than thrilled. As a prosecutor, he has seen the worst of the worst and he’s concerned about my safety. But I’m determined to prove him wrong. I can and will make a difference. So when a pair of muscular, intimidating bikers want to hire to me represent their friend, I accept. And when I meet my client? He’s nothing like I expect and arouses feelings in me I’ve never felt before. I’m drawn to him, and the more time we spend together, the more boundaries I cross. Maybe my father was right about the dangers of me becoming a defense attorney, just not for the reasons he thought.

I thought representing my country as a Marine would be the hardest thing I’d ever do. Turns out, it’s hanging onto my freedom. All of my medals and honors meant nothing when a crooked cop used his position to frame me for a crime I didn’t commit. She’s invaded my mind, and my little attorney is all I can think about, all I want. Until my world is rocked all over again when I learn who she is…and who she’s connected to. Now I’m left wondering if the past is destined to repeat itself.
