These Wicked Games

Oli:
Hockey, my mother, and my best friend. That’s what matters to me.
Then my best friend betrays me. My chances of getting signed on my dream team go up in smoke. My mother well – she didn’t live long enough to watch me claw my way back to the top.
Years later I have a new team, new friends, and a quiet home in the great state of Oregon.

It’s perfect.
Until Andre, my ex-best friend, is traded to the Otters and becomes our new goalie.
Now I’m stuck with him. Coach says I have to play nice but how can I do that when the man who tried to destroy my life is the person I have to defend on the ice? Just the sight of him sets me on fire. He messes with my head in ways I don’t want to linger on. I hate him so much I can’t think. We can’t stop fighting; we’re losing games left and right and okay maybe punching your own goalie for the entire world to see isn’t exactly proper hockey etiquette but who can blame?
This fire ignites us both.
I expect the flames to kill me.
What happens is much, much worse.

Andre:
Once upon a time Oli Kulivov used to be my best friend.
Then he blamed me for something I had nothing to do with. Ever since then he’s hated me and you know what screw him if he thinks I could do that to him. While I want nothing more than to forget he exists but then things at home explode. I have to get out. I need a new team and the Oregon Otters are looking for a goalie.
This is my chance at freedom.
Being back in Kuli’s line of sight is a dangerous game, but what’s even more dangerous is the feeling deep in my gut I feel whenever I see him. Years later and I still feel that twist in my stomach whenever he’s around me. Our fighting is affecting the team. We just can’t stop. I should be afraid. I should keep my distance. I just can’t. Not when it’s so much fun to toy with the darkness in Oli’s blue eyes. I swear I didn’t get traded to the Otters to piss Oli off personally. That is just a happy bonus.

I want to see how far I can push him
When this spark between us ignites.
The inferno we’re trapped in changes everything.
