Being a military brat meant we moved around a lot. By some miracle, we stayed in one place for all of high school, meaning that I had four whole years with Cooper. Four years of friendship, falling in love, fumbling firsts, and making plans for our future.
But then Cooper disappeared. MySpace Top-Eight one day and a ghost town the next. I may have moved on, but a small part of me remained with him at Gomillion High.
Our twenty-year reunion feels like the last chance I’ll have to see Cooper Dalton, whether for closure or to see if our bond is magical enough to make even the non-existent real.
