What happens in Italy…follows you home.

Avery was supposed to be married by now—not stuck working alongside her ex-fiancé, pretending their failed relationship never happened. So when a solo trip to Italy introduces her to a charming stranger with a devastating smile, a no-strings-attached fling feels like the perfect way to remember there’s more to life than work and heartbreak.
But when Avery gets back home, ready to focus on her publishing company, she walks into the last complication she ever expected—her Italian fling is their new marketing consultant. And worse? He’s her ex’s longtime friend.
Benson doesn’t do commitment—not to places, not to jobs, and definitely not to relationships. His life as a consultant has been carefully crafted to keep things temporary, always moving on before anything gets too real. But Avery isn’t just another momentary connection. The more time he spends with her, the more he starts to wonder if he’s been running from the wrong things all along.

She’s determined to prove he wants more in life. He’s convinced she’s dreaming. But when falling becomes inevitable, Avery and Benson must decide—will they take the leap together or let fear keep them from something meant to be?

The Fear of Falling is a closed-door workplace romance that blends witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and heartfelt moments. With nods to other characters in the series in this standalone story, you won’t be able to resist falling for Avery and Benson as they navigate love and ambition on their own terms.
