Summer Redemption

SUNSHINE

The best thing I ever did for myself was leave Wintervale to go to school. It was always my dream to become a veterinarian and help the animals I’ve always loved. When I was growing up, I kept my focus on my studies, and I wasn’t part of the popular crowd.

My dreams and goals put a target on my back without even trying. Huxley Burns had it out for me for years, using my insecurities against me. He took the little crush I had and tore it apart. But then I left and found myself. Now I’m back and ready to show Wintervale who I’ve grown into and that I made my dreams come true.

I should have realized that being a vet in Wintervale meant I’d have to go out to Limitless Ranch and see Huxley again. He’s grown into himself and looks at me differently than he ever did back then, but can I trust it? When he sincerely apologizes for the way he treated me, the feelings I had back then come back, but trust is hard earned. Can he ever be more than a crush who is better left in the past?

HUXLEY

I’ll be the first to admit that I was a horrible person back in high school. It wasn’t easy living in the shadow of my siblings, but I desperately wanted to be seen as my own person without everyone’s expectations. I’m not proud of it, I lashed out at the wrong people, but I own it now and take full responsibility.

It’s too late for me to go back to change any of it, but I think I’ve made amends through my actions. I show up for the people of Wintervale and my brothers, proving that I’ve changed, and I’ve apologized to almost everyone. There’s just one person who hasn’t been back to town in the eight years since graduation. Sunshine Holloway was an easy target, with her nose always stuck in a book without a care for how she looked, and I’m not sure I’ll ever get the chance to make it right.

But then she breezes back into town as the newest veterinarian; seeing her again is like a punch to the gut. She’s gorgeous, confident, and doesn’t care what I have to say about the past. I’m determined to make it right, and then I’m going to sweep Sunshine off her feet and make her mine. She’s my redemption and my future, and I’m not letting her go.
