Following the arrest of Needler, Tregam teeters on the brink of collapse. The city is demanding the release of the killer they believe is their best hope of finding Cocooner.
Eleanor’s secrets are exposed after the fateful night which began with her fighting for her partner Dirk’s life, and ended with Needler arrested. Her affair with Needler—the very killer she’d been hunting—is now public knowledge, and the weight of the city’s anger has fallen squarely on her shoulders.

But with Cocooner amassing a twisted army of copycats, Eleanor is pulled back into the fray, tasked with interrogating Needler—the one man who might hold the key to stopping his sister’s reign of terror.
Dirk survived Cocooner’s clutches, but at a cost. Haunted by his near-death experience and his inability to protect Eleanor or himself, he’s nearing his breaking point. But Cocooner isn’t done with him..

She’s not done with any of them.
Eleanor must navigate a city on the edge of chaos, a killer who knows her all too well, a partner who shares her trauma, and the sick games of a madwoman who doesn’t like to lose.

The only way out is through the darkest part of Tregam, and the shadows of the city have never been so deep.
